Pancasila Sanctity Day Ceremony: Rector Highlights’ UNDIP Zero Waste’ Commitment and Innovators’ Contributions to Society

UNDIP, Semarang (October 1, 2025) – As a university that has grown alongside the nation’s historical journey, Universitas Diponegoro reaffirmed its commitment to national values by holding the 2025 Pancasila Sanctity Day Ceremony on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Widya Puraya Field, Tembalang Campus. This year’s theme, “Pancasila as the Nation’s Unifier Toward a Greater Indonesia,” reflects the spirit of unity and a moral foundation for facing today’s challenges.

The ceremony included the reading of the Pancasila Sanctity Pledge, affirming the Indonesian people’s commitment to upholding and practicing the noble values of Pancasila. The pledge emphasized that Pancasila remains a source of strength in defending truth, promoting justice, and safeguarding the unity of the Republic of Indonesia. With a spirit of togetherness, the nation is believed to stand stronger against both domestic and global challenges.

UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., in his address, invited all participants to bow their heads in gratitude. He stressed that October 1 serves not only as a reminder of history but also as a testament to the Republic of Indonesia’s continued resilience, despite past betrayals. “We are all educators, called to remain faithful in supporting education, guiding students until they become independent and complete their studies,” he said.

Prof. Suharnomo expressed appreciation for UNDIP’s recent achievements, from the successful National Student Sports Week (POMNAS XIX Jateng 2025), which drew thousands of athletes, to the active participation of faculty members in national and international conferences, and preparations for UNDIP’s 68th Anniversary, which will feature a keynote by the Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation as well as an exhibition of 30 campus innovators. On that occasion, UNDIP will also declare its Zero Waste program as part of its commitment to integrated waste management.

The Rector also highlighted several strategic initiatives, including the establishment of an immigration point at Muladi Dome for international student services, the launch of a rice research laboratory at the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, and the development of a desalination machine that has drawn interest from the Jawa Tengah Provincial Government. UNDIP is also preparing to welcome the Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas), who will review the university’s food truck program as a model for healthy food services.

“All these steps are tangible contributions from UNDIP, not only for the academic world but also for a better Indonesia. We hope that the innovations born here will not only possess scientific value but also provide direct benefits to society. UNDIP continues to be noble and valuable,” the Rector concluded.

More than a tradition, the commemoration aligns with the Ministry’s “Diktisaintek Berdampak” program, which emphasizes the importance of research, innovation, and the cultivation of national character. UNDIP believes that sustainable development can only be realized when science advances in harmony with the values of Pancasila.

This momentum also resonates with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. By internalizing the values of Pancasila, UNDIP is committed to supporting the creation of a peaceful, just society and resilient, trustworthy institutions.

With the tagline “Noble and Valuable UNDIP,” the university emphasizes its dual role as both a guardian of national values and a center of knowledge dedicated to advancing public welfare. This year’s Pancasila Sanctity Day commemoration demonstrates that UNDIP is not only an academic institution but also a national pillar rooted in the spirit of unity and national unity. (Public Communication/UNDIP/DHW & Hng)
