68th Anniversary of Universitas Diponegoro: Noble and Valuable UNDIP in Their Perspectives

UNDIP, Semarang (October 15, 2025) – Sixty-eight years of the journey of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) marks a milestone in the transformation of a state university aligned with the Diktisaintek Berdampak (Impactful Higher Education, Science, and Technology) program. Under the leadership of Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., UNDIP has asserted itself as a research university not only focused on achieving international academic reputation but also deeply committed to delivering tangible benefits to society.

With the slogan “Noble and Valuable UNDIP,” the university gives concrete meaning to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—that knowledge and innovation must have a real and positive impact on the community, in line with the national direction of Diktisaintek Berdampak launched by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.

The 68th Anniversary (Dies Natalis) of Universitas Diponegoro has received broad appreciation for its role as an innovative and impactful institution. Many have recognized UNDIP’s success in integrating research, service, and collaboration for the public good. This celebration serves as a reflection of UNDIP’s consistency in advancing knowledge that is both dignified and beneficial—reaffirming its position as an inspiration for higher education in Indonesia.

The UNDIP’s Public Communication Editorial Team captured testimonials from various figures who expressed their appreciation for UNDIP on its 68th anniversary, recognizing the university’s success in fulfilling its mission as both a driver of scientific development and a provider of fundamental contributions to society.

Appreciation from the Government and Legislature

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Prof. Brian Yuliarto praised UNDIP’s consistency in upholding the spirit of Diktisaintek Berdampak. “UNDIP’s research has made important contributions in education, health, environment, energy, food security, and digital transformation,” he said. He expressed hope that UNDIP will continue to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and produce a new generation of innovative, character-driven leaders for the Golden Indonesia 2045.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Jawa Tengah, Komjen Pol (Purn) Drs. Ahmad Luthfi, S.H., S.St.M.K., called UNDIP “the pride of Jawa Tengah and Indonesia.” He highlighted UNDIP’s seawater desalination and hybrid seawall innovations as concrete examples of science addressing real-world problems. “Innovation doesn’t stop in the laboratory—it must create real impact for society,” the Governor said.

Support also came from the Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), Sultan Bakhtiar Najamudin, who praised UNDIP as a pioneer of change and a guardian of national values. “The theme is truly exceptional: ‘Innovation for the Nation—When Innovation Meets Impact.’ On behalf of the DPD RI, I express my appreciation and full support for UNDIP’s spirit of strengthening collaboration between academia, government, and society so that innovation truly makes a real impact for the nation,” he stated.

“UNDIP continues to demonstrate its strategic role as a leading university that produces impactful research and highly competitive human resources for Indonesia’s advancement,” he added.

Academic Perspectives

Rector of ITB, Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara, described UNDIP’s journey as a reflection of its strong commitment to producing meaningful innovation for the nation. “Through the theme Innovation for the Nation—When Innovation Meets Impact, UNDIP has shown that research must be connected to the greater good of the country,” he said.

Similarly, Rector of UNNES, Prof. S. Martono, emphasized that UNDIP has become a pioneer of sustainable research in Indonesia. “As a strategic partner, we are ready to continue building synergy, fostering collaboration, and creating sustainable innovations,” he said.

From Lampung, Rector of the Universitas Lampung, Prof. Lusmeilia Afriani, delivered her spirited message: “UNDIP, a brilliant campus—may it continue to grow and shine. Let us push forward innovation that is relevant and impactful for Indonesia’s development,” she said.

Congratulations also came from the Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret, Prof. Hartono, who emphasized the importance of innovation that brings real benefit, and the Rector of UPI, Prof. Didi Sukyadi, who referred to UNDIP as “a lighthouse of knowledge and innovation that illuminates the nation.”

As stated by the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran, Prof. Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasasmita:

Alumni and Young Generation

Chairman of the UNDIP Alumni Association (IKA UNDIP), Abdul Kadir Karding, stated that this year’s Dies Natalis theme serves as a reminder that innovation should not stop within the campus. “Academic works must deliver real benefits to the community. The alumni are ready to support UNDIP in nurturing excellent, innovative, and impactful generations,” he emphasized.

Jelita Hesti Rahayu, S.Sos., HR Supervisor at PT Sailun Manufacturing Indonesia and a 2001 alumnus of Communication Studies, FISIP UNDIP, expressed her pride in UNDIP alumni’s professional contributions. “I often search for top talent for my organization. When many of the best candidates come from UNDIP, I know they carry the same values—integrity, hard work, and a spirit of service. There’s a unique pride in seeing fellow alumni grow and contribute in the professional world. From UNDIP, for Indonesia,” she said.

Editor-in-Chief of Kompas TV, Yogi Arief Nugraha, a 1993 alumnus of Communication Studies, FISIP UNDIP, and current Chairman of IKA FISIP (2025–2030), reflected on UNDIP’s legacy of sixty-eight years walking alongside Indonesia’s journey as an unwavering commitment and dedication to nation-building. “Indonesia’s progress is UNDIP’s progress. May UNDIP continue expanding its service to the nation through impactful and influential work, strengthened by the noble values of our motherland. For students, the Dies Natalis is not merely a festivity but also a reflection. President of BEM UNDIP, Aufa Ataariq Auraki, described the campus as a place that shapes academics, creators, and public servants. “I hope that at its 68th year, UNDIP can be even more valuable to the nation, helping realize a just and prosperous society,” he said enthusiastically.

From all perspectives—government, academia, alumni, and students—a single message emerges: UNDIP has become a symbol of how innovation and research can create real impact for society. At 68 years old, Universitas Diponegoro stands not only as an institution of higher education but also as a center for social, economic, and environmental solutions.
