UNDIP, Japan (19/1) – The Director of Innovation, Downstreaming, and Cooperation of Diponegoro University (UNDIP), drh. Dian Wahyu Harjanti, Ph.D., participated in the Knowledge Co-Creation Program “University Management in Industry–Academia Collaboration” in Japan. The program was attended by 12 participants from Indonesian higher education institutions who are responsible for managing collaboration among industry, academia, and government.
This training program aims to enhance leadership capacity and methodologies in promoting strategic collaboration between universities, industry, and government. The co-creation approach was implemented through Japanese case studies and the exchange of knowledge, personnel, and organizational practices with industry partners in the Land of the Rising Sun.
During the program, participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions with relevant ministries to gain insights into the strong policy support provided by the Japanese government for academia–industry collaboration. Participants also observed the direct implementation of collaboration in the semiconductor industry in Kyushu and at YASKAWA Electric Corporation. They held discussions with several leading universities, including Kumamoto University, Kyushu Institute of Technology, and Tohoku University (NanoTerasu). These activities showcased real-world practices of industry–academia collaboration, research downstreaming, startup development, and government support through the establishment of science technoparks as integrated innovation hubs in each prefecture.
At the conclusion of the program, drh. Dian Wahyu Harjanti, Ph.D., presented an action plan before JICA leadership and related ministries and received a certificate of recognition.
“Universitas Diponegoro is committed to driving the transformation from a research-based university into an impact-oriented university through innovation, technology downstreaming, and strategic partnerships with industry and government,” she stated.
