UNDIP, Semarang (27/3) – The Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) welcomed a delegation from the School of ICT, Fontys University of Applied Sciences (ICT Fontys), the Netherlands. The meeting took place on Friday, March 13, 2026, in the Multimedia Room on the 3rd Floor of Prof. Ir. Eko Budihardjo, M.Sc. Building.
The visit was attended by the leadership of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, administrators from the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, and representatives from the Department of Industrial Engineering. Representing ICT Fontys were Michel von Eekhout from the Netherlands and Tina Purwono from Indonesia.
In his remarks, Michel von Eekhout explained that the primary objective of the visit was to discuss the potential for academic collaboration through a Dual Degree Program between the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP and ICT Fontys. According to him, this scheme is relatively straightforward to implement and could potentially begin as early as next year.
“We are trying to establish cooperation through a Dual Degree program because it is easier to implement. We can start next year, provided that we begin our collaboration now,” said Michel.
Meanwhile, Tina Purwono noted that a similar partnership had previously been established in 2008. She expressed hope that the current visit would revive opportunities for collaboration that had since been discontinued.
“ICT Fontys actually had an agreement with the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP back in 2008, but the collaboration eventually stopped. Therefore, we are very pleased to have the opportunity to restart this partnership,” she said.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamari, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., warmly welcomed the ICT Fontys delegation. He expressed optimism that the visit would pave the way for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two institutions.
“We are delighted to welcome all of you to our faculty. We hope to engage in fruitful and extensive discussions that will lead to meaningful collaboration,” said Prof. Jamari.
Through this visit, the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening sustainable partnerships with international institutions. It is expected that this collaboration will provide tangible benefits for the academic community and society at large in the future. (Public Communication/UNDIP/Faculty of Engineering)
