“The public is waiting for academics to discuss a topic so that what appears is not always from Wikipedia or YouTube,” said Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si, the Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University. The speech was delivered at the Dissemination Forum of New Doctoral Research Results of the Undip Faculty of Economics and Business on Wednesday (30/3/2022). At this event, there were eleven new doctors who had completed their doctoral programs both at home and abroad universities.
Prof. Dr. Suharnomo also appreciated this event in order to encourage science development and to share knowledge. “It’s a good tradition to encourage the development of science,” he said.
He also stated that higher education is currently experiencing turbulence. Higher education is in the middle position, namely the position that is not the most affected but also not growing so fast. “Undip is a big university, there’s not much of a problem with student interest,” continued Prof. Suharnomo.
The Dean of FEB Undip encouraged new doctors as well as all lecturers to conduct research in the field of digital business considering that we are now in industry 4.0 and will move to 5.0.
“Everyone is a marketer but it depends on how we speak up in the public sphere. If we don’t speak up, we will fall behind. The public is waiting for the academics. Hopefully a forum like this can raise awareness that lecturers are not only academics, not like an untouched tower. A lecturer must be competent and capable in the respective field, be an inspiration for students, do research, and also maintain the good name of the campus,” he concluded.
