The Highlight of the 7th Anniversary, Vocational School Undip Launches Cultural Vocational Village

Semarang-Central Java (21/10). At the 7th Anniversary celebration, the Vocational School of Diponegoro University (SV UNDIP) held a series of activities in the form of competitions, national expos, national and international seminars, as well as peak event celebrations. Vocational School Undip, which is now 7 years old, has created various works, both on national and international levels. Serve, contribute, and improve the quality of Indonesian education by producing graduates who are competent and ready to work in the industrial world.

Vocational School Undip has a vision of becoming a Center for Vocational (Applied) Education of Excellence and International Standard. They are dedicated to providing high-quality vocational education that empowers students with practical skills and knowledge so that they are able to produce professional graduates who are accepted and recognized for their competence in the world of work both nationally and internationally. Vocational School Undip prepares students to have successful careers and make positive contributions to society.

To commemorate this, the Vocational School Undip held its 7th Anniversary activities. The theme raised is “Strengthening Collaboration to Create Synergistic Achievements in Building the Country.” The series of activities to celebrate the Anniversary began on 26-28 May 2023, namely the National Food Festival Expo with Sriboga Industrial Partners, followed by a series of Vocalympic activities: Competition between Vocational School Study Programs, Summer Course, National Seminar, Launching of the Cultural Vocational Village as well as shadow puppets (wayang) performance from the Cultural Vocational Village which is broadcast Live on TVRI Jateng at 20.00-01.00. Also, the Vocational Debate Competition, Vocational Idol: National Level Singing Competition, as well as Scientific Oration and Peak Night: Awarding and Cultural Arts Performance” were held on October 21, 2023. This series of activities invites participants from various backgrounds, namely from the Vocational School Undip, Vocational College in Indonesia, Foreign Universities, Vocational Schools in Indonesia, Alumni and from the Business World of Industry (DUDI).

Dean of the Vocational School Undip, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si., said that on its 7th Anniversary, the Vocational School Undip had achieved many achievements both on the national and international levels. Among them, 4 Vocational School Undip students who are members of the Undip Choir Team (PSM) succeeded in achieving achievements at the 2023 Taipei International Choral Competition. 18 Undip Vocational Applied Foreign Language Study Program students are currently doing internships in Japan, and next year, that number will increase to 40 students.

Another achievement achieved by the Vocational School Undip students included 3rd place in the 2023 National MAWAPRES and the Undip Vocational School TRKI Study Program received grant funds from the Vocational Competitive Fund Program. With this achievement, this anniversary celebration will be a turning point for Vocational School Undip to continue to make valuable contributions to developing the country.

At the peak of the 7th Anniversary, the launch of the Cultural Vocational Village was announced, which was marked by a fantastic contemporary shadow puppet art performance. This event featured 7 puppeteers and 7 leading sinden who brought the shadow puppet tradition into the modern era with a touch of extraordinary creativity. This innovative initiative marks an important milestone in Vocational School Undip’s commitment to vocational education and cultural richness.

Cultural Tourism Village (Dewadaya) Kurung Village, Ceper District, Klaten Regency has a vision of becoming a superior Cultural Village with the support of the unique potential of local arts and culture towards the development of arts and culture at the National Level.

Carrying the Tagline of Kurung Cultural Village: “Kurung Cultural Village, Ngrembaka Hamangun Karya,” the actors and preservers of the original culture of Kurung Village held a meeting and inaugurated the Kurung Cultural Tourism Village Association (Dewadaya).

The Cultural Vocational Village is a unique platform designed to celebrate the combination of vocational education and cultural richness. Through various exciting activities and programs, this initiative aims to empower students, educators and the community with vocational skills while preserving and promoting diverse cultural heritage.

This collaboration presents the Dewadaya Association from Kurung Cultural Village, Klaten, namely 7 leading puppeteers who present epic stories from wayang, supported by 7 talented sinden who contribute stunning vocals. This shadow puppet performance is not only artistic entertainment but also an embodiment of harmony between cultural heritage and contemporary creativity.

As part of our 7th-anniversary celebration, the Cultural Vocational Village held a series of events and workshops, including the Cultural Workshop: National Seminar with the title The Role of Vocational Schools in the Development of Cultural Vocational Villages and the Creative Economy. The committee also held a Skills Development Session: Involved in the Special Expo for Vocational School Young Entrepreneurs, aimed at improving vocational skills and preparing students to face real-world challenges.
