Musuk Village, Boyolali – Mrs. Surani, Chair of the Rukun Makmur Women’s Farmers Group (KWT), emphasized the critical role of women in increasing family income. This statement was made at a meeting with the Community Service Team from the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences Undip on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. “As women and wives, we want to carry out activities that improve the welfare of the family,” said Surani enthusiastically.
However, women farmers in Musuk Village need help with obstacles, namely the lack of companions or tutors who can provide technology transfer according to community needs. FPP Undip lecturers from the Nutrition and Feed Science Laboratory are committed to providing comprehensive assistance in the agricultural sector. This activity is planned to be carried out in stages, adapting to the level of training needs of women farmers. “We are ready to assist them so that they can carry out economic activities and increase family income,” said Dr. Ir. Mulyono, M.Si., activity coordinator.
The Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences (FPP) Undip also assisted in the form of livestock vitamins and minerals, goat/sheep candy, and livestock medicines. This support is provided in order to improve the welfare of breeders. INP Lab Professors, such as Prof. Widiyanto, Prof. Nyoman Suthama, and Prof. Joelal Achmadi, supported this community service program. The Boyolali Regency Livestock and Fisheries Service also attended this event. Nur Laila, representing Disnakkan Boyolali, stated that she would work together with Undip to improve the welfare of breeders, “The government will work together with Undip to accelerate progress in the livestock sector so that breeders can be more prosperous.” Said Nur Laila
In future developments, female farmers will be given training and practice in making complete feed for their goats. The movement is expected to divert time looking for grass into activities in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Dr. Ir. Anis Muktiani, M.Si., Undip lecturer, hopes that the livestock waste problem will be resolved well. “It is hoped that the livestock waste problem can be resolved by making solid organic fertilizer and liquid organic fertilizer which can be applied to agricultural land,” Said Dr. Anis.
The mentoring program by FPP Undip for farmers, including the Women’s Farmer Group, is part of routine activities aimed at providing the transfer of appropriate technology in the field of animal and agricultural sciences to the community, with a focus on improving the economy of farmer families. This program is implemented in various regions, especially in Central Java Province and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
