This year’s National OSH Seminar adopts the theme “Optimizing OSH Implementation in Facing Climate Change for Sustainable Business.” The 2024 National OSH Seminar will be conducted in a hybrid format with 550 students participating from various universities and polytechnics across Indonesia.

The Occupational Safety and Health Forum of the Faculty of Public Health at Diponegoro University (OSH Forum FKM UNDIP) is a student forum in the Occupational Safety and Health Division of the Faculty of Public Health at Diponegoro University. Founded in 2002, the OSH Forum FKM UNDIP serves as a platform for students in the OSH Division of FKM Undip to develop soft skills in various fields, especially related to OSH, to prepare them for competition in the job market.

The event opened with an opening speech from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, followed by a presentation from the ILO. In this session, it was explained that climate change requires attention and control efforts. “Climate change is a real problem that has been occurring over a long period. Therefore, let us increase awareness and participation in reducing emissions,” said Abdul Hakim, Programme Officer for ILO Indonesia—Timor Leste.

In an informative presentation session, Rani Miranti, S.KM, HSE Manager at PT Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia, added, “We are no longer in the era of global warming, but now we are in the era of global boiling.”

“As HSE professionals, besides protecting workers, our job is to protect the company’s business from the impacts of climate change,” added Heri Haryono, S.KM., Head of EHS at PT. Siemens Indonesia.

Following the presentations by the three speakers, the event continued with a talk show session aimed at deepening and providing perspectives on the role of OSH workers in facing climate change. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident, and many asked the two esteemed speakers questions. The materials presented served as valuable preparation for prospective and current OSH practitioners to face climate change conditions.
