The 2nd International Conference on Public Health For Tropical and Coastal Development (ICOPH-TCD) was held by Diponegoro University (Undip)’s Faculty of Public Health (FPH) on Monday-Tuesday (July 30-31, 2018) at Gumaya Hotel, Semarang. The conference is held every 2 years by Undip’s FPH.
Built on January 4, 1985, Undip’s FPH is the first faculty of public health in Central Java Province, Indonesia. As one of Indonesian leading provider of education and research on public health, Undip’s FPH is dedicated to improve health of Indonesians and global community.
The conference is to develop collaboration with and sharing experiences of academicians, students, postgraduates, researchers, decision makers on health, and stake holders relating to aspects of health. The conference is an event for attracting attentions and increasing careness of academicians, researchers, professionals, administrators, leaders of health institutions, decision makers, representatives of industries, and students of postgraduate programs, who have interests to develop and contribution in health development in tropical and coastal areas.
Dean of FPH Hanifa Maher Denny, SKM, MPH, Ph.D., Chairman of Committee dr. Martha Irene Kartasurya, MSc., Ph.D., and all Heads of Study Ptograms in Undip’s FPH proudly and warmly welcome to all participants of the conference.
A total of 200 abstracts were presented during the two days conference, on Monday and Tuesday, which were attended by over 300 participants. Geographically, the participants come from Australia, United States, Netherlands, Indonesia, Japan, and Thailand. Materials and articles presented at the conference will be selected for publications on journals indexed scopus and other accredited journals which will be reviewed by committed reviewers. Some articles will also be selected to publish on the International Journal of Public Health for Tropical and Coastal Regions published by Undip’s FPH.
Dean of Undip’s FPH thanked to all committee members of the 2nd ICOPH-TCD, who have hard-worked to organize the big conference. He also conveyed deep appreciation to all participants and sponsors who have participated in successing the event.
Undip Rector Prof. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum, in his speech, thanked to all parties for successing the event.
“The conference is unique and relevant to current public health problems in certain tropical and coastal areas, and it has contribution to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in which good health and welfare are its goals,” Rector said.
Furthermore, Rector said that in the presence of three campuses in Semarang Tembalang, Semarang Pleburan, and Jepara, Undip is proud to be consistently rated as one of the leading campuses in Indonesia, with big reputation of teaching, advanced research, participation in community service and its impacts to community.
“Undip has been standing on ‘three pillars’ of education, research, and community service, which named as Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Principles of Higher Education). For accelerating our mission to contribute in development of health program in tropical and coastal regions, Undip is expanding partnership and collaboration with local governments, central government, international and national non-governmental organizations, and private sectors,” Rector said.
Rector hoped the conference will be precious opportunity to researchers, lecturers, postgraduate students and decision makers for sharing experiences and ideas.
