Cianjur-West Java (9/2/2023). Limited space does not limit the children of the victims of the Cianjur Earthquake from studying religion, especially reading the Qur’an as a holy book that must be believed. Through the Undip Disaster Response Thematic Community Service (KKN) program, children enjoy reciting the Qur’an with Team 2 of Undip Thematic KKN.
The atmosphere of learning to read the Qur’an in the Cibeureum Cianjur residents’ evacuation tents felt different after the arrival of the Undip Thematic KKN team. Teaching reciting the Qur’an is part of community service as an effort to reduce the trauma of children after the Cianjur earthquake.
This activity has been going on for five days, since February 5, 2023 where students will take turns teaching the Qur’an at the Cibeureum Village evacuation tent. Teaching activities begin after the Maghrib prayer until the Isya call to prayer resounds. Children will take turns reading the Qur’an to each other while students will listen and justify the children’s recitation of the Qur’an.
Head of RT 02/RW 1 Cibeureum Village, Asep said, “I am very happy that the children can return to recite the Qur’an. After the Cianjur earthquake that occurred last November, the mosque which is usually used to recite the Qur’an for children was badly damaged plus there were no educators to teach Qur’an recitation because they were busy renovating their homes.”
Even though only with an earthen floor covered with tarpaulin and minimal lighting, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Cibeureum Village children to recite the Qur’an with Team 2 of Undip Thematic KKN.
In the interview, the Head of Undip Thematic KKN Disaster Response Team 2, Fikri Haekal said, “Al-Quran teaching activity is not only learning, but also motivating children to keep their spirits up during post-earthquake rehabilitation and as an effort to get closer to God Almighty.”
