Thursday, October 26, 2023, the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, held an event entitled Ben Connect Alumni Gathering. Carrying the theme “Reuniting to Build a Better Future for the Faculty of Engineering,” hundreds of Faculty of Engineering Undip alumni from various classes gathered and shared their stories in a hybrid manner in the Engineering Hall, Prof. Ir. Eko Budihardjo, M.Sc Building, and online via Zoom Meeting.
At this year’s alumni meeting, three alumni were presented as resource persons, namely Lukman Hidayat as Chair of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Engineering (Ikateknik), Diana Kusumastuti as Director General of Cipta Karya of the Ministry of PUPR, and FM Venusiana R as Director of Enterprise & Business Service at PT Telkom Indonesia. Apart from that, several successful alumni also attended and enlivened the event, which was part of the Faculty of Engineering’s 65th Anniversary celebration.
Head of the Diponegoro University Ranking Office, Prof. Denny Nugroho Sugianto, explained that the Ben Connect Alumni Gathering is an event regularly held by Diponegoro University to gather and create strong relationships between the campus and its alumni. “This event can be an inspiration and increase connectivity between campus and alumni, as well as campus and employers,” he said.
One of the alumni and speakers from Telkom Indonesia, FM Venusiana R, admitted that she was happy to be able to return to her alma mater and share stories with other alumni. She revealed that apart from meeting and discussing at alumni meetings, her party is also preparing to cooperate with Diponegoro University, especially in the field of utilizing big data technology, which Telkom Indonesia is currently developing. “After this event, we will discuss cooperation in utilizing big data at Undip with the Vice Rector. Hopefully, in the future, Undip can develop this with us,” he continued.
Apart from the material session, in this alumni gathering event, Ikateknik, the organization that oversees the Faculty of Engineering Undip alumni, also introduced the D’Teknik application. According to Lukman Hidayat, Chair of Ikateknik, with the presence of the D’Teknik application, it is hoped that Faculty of Engineering Undip alumni will be able to communicate and share with fellow alumni. “In it, there will be several features, such as donations and jobs, to help Engineering alumni communicate and gather with fellow alumni,” he explained.
Prof. M. Agung Wibowo, as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Undip, hopes that with this alumni meeting, the Faculty of Engineering Undip, the alumni and the academic community will be able to synergize with each other to face the dynamics of the current era. “Life must be in synergy. This means we have to join hands, close ranks, to be able to synergize with each other in facing extraordinary changes in phenomena,” said Prof Agung.
