Friday, December 22, 2023, three lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering received awards from Diponegoro University (Undip) for their achievements as the most patent winners in 2022. The lecturers, namely Prof. Ir. Tutuk Djoko Kusworo, S.T, M.Eng., Ph.D. and Prof. Dr. Ing. Ir. Suherman, S.T., M.T. from the Department of Chemical Engineering, and Dr. Ir. Eddy Prianto, CES, DEA from the Department of Architecture, succeeded in winning Rank II and III as an Inventor Lecturer with the Most Patent Achievements and Rank I with the Most Copyright Achievements at Diponegoro University in 2022. The awarding ceremony took place at the Mother’s Day commemoration ceremony held in the Field Widya Puraya, Undip Tembalang.
Prof. Dr. Ing. Ir. Suherman, S.T., M.T., one of the professors who received the award, admitted that he was proud to be able to patent some of his research results and play a role in increasing the results of the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to patents. “I am very proud because some of the research results can be produced in the form of patents and help increase the acquisition of KPI Patents,” he said.
He hopes that in the future, the patents that have been obtained can be immediately commercialized or used in the industrial world. “We hope that the patents we obtain can immediately be commercialized or applied in industry,” he said.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M, M.Sc., Ph.D., said he was grateful for the achievements obtained by these lecturers. According to him, this achievement is proof of how the university recognizes the performance of the Faculty of Engineering academic community. “For those who get this achievement, it means that they are recognized at the Undip level, meaning they have achieved performance that exceeds the average, namely outstanding performance,” he said.
He hopes that this achievement can be maintained in the future. Regarding patents, he is optimistic that the Faculty of Engineering academics can continue to patent their research results even though the process is quite long and complicated. “In the future, we want to maintain that (patent) since patenting is not easy. The administrative process is long and requires patience and effort. But that is not an obstacle for us, and the lecturers and professors have exemplified the process,” said Prof. Agung.
