UNDIP, Semarang (May 11, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) reaffirmed its commitment to shaping a generation of youth with strong character through scouting activities. The commitment is realized through the inauguration and swearing-in of the Scout Council Supervisory Board (Majelis Pembimbing Gugus Depan / Mabigus) and the Scout Troop Management of Semarang Scout Troops 05-173 and 05-174, based at UNDIP’s Scout Student Activity Unit (UKM Pramuka), for the 2025–2027 term.

The ceremony was held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the SAMWA Building Hall on UNDIP’s Tembalang campus. It followed an earlier meeting between the Mabigus and scout troop leaders with the UNDIP Rector on April 22, during which the 2025 Scout Troop Meeting report was also presented.

Attended by university leaders, scout figures, and active students, the solemn event witnessed UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., inaugurated as Chair of Mabigus 05-173 and 05-174. Later, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.T. was appointed as Executive Chair of Mabigus.

Other key figures sworn in as Mabigus members included:

  1. Edy Surahmad, S.Pd., M.Si.
  2. Prof. Dr. Ir. Slamet Budi Prayitno, M.Sc.
  3. Prof. Dr. Ir. Dwi Sunarti, M.S.
  4. Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Puryono, KS., MP.

The inauguration was led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Slamet Budi Prayitno, M.Sc., Chair of the Jawa Tengah Scout Regional Council (Kwarda), who also pinned the official insignia, supervised the signing of the inauguration charter, and led the recitation of the Scout oath.

In his remarks, Prof. Suharnomo expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and emphasized the vital role scouting plays in developing students who are not only academically capable but also resilient, disciplined, ethical, and socially responsible.

“In this fast-changing era, where the current generation—often labeled the ‘strawberry generation’—faces many vulnerabilities, Scouting nurtures independence and dedication. I am honored to be part of the UNDIP Scout family,” the Rector said.

He encouraged continued innovation in scouting programs to keep them relevant and engaging for today’s youth. “UNDIP is fully committed to supporting Scouting as an essential part of holistic student development,” he added.

“Through this movement, we aim to promote and strengthen the presence and innovation of Scouting programs that resonate with the current needs of young people across the campus,” Prof. Suharnomo said.

Prof. Slamet Budi also praised UNDIP for its consistent support of character education through Scouting. “UNDIP has shown unwavering dedication. We hope this collaboration continues to produce strong, forward-thinking Scout leaders who make meaningful contributions to the nation,” he said.

He also called on all stakeholders to recognize Scouting as a vital component of character education in higher education. “Let us make Scouting an integral part of university character development. With the spirit of collaboration and unity, I believe UNDIP Scouts can become a national model in youth development,” Prof. Slamet added.

The ceremony concluded with a joint prayer, group photos, and spirited chants from all participants, marking the beginning of a new era for an active, creative, and impactful Scouting program both on campus and in the broad community. (Public Communications/UNDIP/DHW)
