UNDIP, Semarang (July 6, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) continues to assert its role as a national hub for technological innovation. The university’s Bandhayudha Robotics Research Team — comprising students from Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and the Vocational School — officially unveiled its Basketball Robot on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Prof. Dr. dr. Susilo Wibowo, M.S.Med., Sp.And(K). Indoor Basketball Court. The intelligent basketball-playing robot is being prepared to compete at the 2025 ABU Indonesia Robot Contest (KRAI), a national selection event for the Asia-Pacific ABU Robocon in Mongolia.
A series of test shoots was conducted, pitting a robot against a human in a shooting challenge. Telemetry data was collected and fed into an analytics dashboard to assess reaction speed, actuator stability, and operator communication latency.
“Today’s test is designed as the final stress test before KRAI,” said Helmi Yusuf, leader of the Bandhayudha team. “We want to ensure that the robot, operator, and on-court strategy all come together seamlessly so that Bandhayudha UNDIP performs at its best.”
UNDIP Basketball Team Captain Aqila added, “The robot’s movements are impressively consistent and require a fast human response. We’re proud that the UNDIP Basketball Club can support this research and help the robotics team understand practical limitations in their preparations.”

Commenting on the collaboration, Prof. Dr.Eng. Munadi, S.T., M.T., supervisor of Bandhayudha and a key figure at the UNDIP Robotic Development Center, said, “This joint effort serves to test the robot’s durability as part of our preparation for the national robotics competition hosted at ITB Jatinangor.”
UNDIP’s pride, the Bandhayudha team, stands behind the powerful image captured at the unveiling. Based at the UNDIP Robotic Development Center (URDC), this cross-faculty squad has earned national recognition, having won 3rd Place and Best Design at the 2023 Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) and secured a podium finish at the 2024 KRAI regionals. In 2025, the team is once again among the 24 national finalists, reaffirming UNDIP’s strong presence in Indonesia’s robotics arena. This year’s KRAI challenge carries the theme “Robot Basketball,” where competing robots must shoot balls into hoops using both autonomous and manual coordination — in line with the ABU Robocon 2025 format, which will culminate in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Through their latest team photo, Bandhayudha UNDIP sends a message of determination: they are not just competing but fighting to raise the Indonesian flag on the Asia-Pacific stage. Support from the academic community and the public is expected to fuel their drive toward their next “slam dunk” — securing a spot to represent Indonesia at the international ABU Robocon.
