UNDIP Sends Off 28 Delegates to (POMNAS) XIX Jawa Tengah 2025: Fostering Sportsmanship and Noble Achievement

SEMARANG (September 17, 2025) — Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has officially sent off its student delegations to compete in the Pekan Olahraga Mahasiswa Nasional (POMNAS) XIX Jawa Tengah 2025. The send-off ceremony was held warmly at the BAK Conference Room, UNDIP Tembalang campus, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, attended by university leaders, faculty advisors, coaches, and student-athletes.

This year’s POMNAS XIX is hosted in Jawa Tengah, centered in Semarang City and several venues in Surakarta City. UNDIP is also serving as one of the hosts, providing several competition venues, including GOR Basket Prof. Dr. Susilo Wibowo, Polytron Stadium, and the UNDIP Stadium futsal field. This role brings pride to the UNDIP academic community as it contributes to the success of POMNAS.

The UNDIP contingent consists of students from various faculties who will compete in multiple sports disciplines. They have undergone a rigorous selection process and intensive training under the guidance of the coaching team. The university has provided full support, from training facilities to academic assistance, to help the athletes balance their athletic achievements with their academic pursuits.

UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed his appreciation and full support for the athletes in his remarks. “Being both a student and an accomplished athlete is no easy feat. My message is simple: let Veni Vidi Vici not be a burden, but a fighting spirit. Maximize your training, maintain your mentality, and never be intimidated—even if your opponents are national or international athletes,” he said.

“We are grateful for your dedication, time, energy, and hard work. Compete with sportsmanship, give your 100 percent, and carry our best prayers. May you bring pride to UNDIP, Jawa Tengah, yourselves, your families, and all of us,” added Prof. Suharnomo.

Meanwhile, the Director of Student Affairs and Alumni reported that UNDIP is sending 28 delegates—25 athletes and 3 coaches—to compete in 10 sports, including athletics, beach volleyball, chess, karate, archery, pencak silat, swimming, taekwondo, and tennis.

“The athletes have gone through strict selection and intensive training, including the pre-POMNAS in Region 3 at the Universitas Jenderal Sudirman, and preparations with BAPOMI. Held biennially, POMNAS is an opportunity for UNDIP students to achieve excellence while fostering resilience and teamwork,” he said.

In addition to POMNAS, UNDIP students will also participate in various other national events, such as MTQM in Banjarmasin from October 2 to 5, 2025, as well as the PILMAPRES event. “UNDIP is committed to supporting students to excel both academically and non-academically,” Edy concluded.

Through their participation in POMNAS XIX, UNDIP reaffirms its commitment to producing students who excel not only in academics and research but also in sports. With the spirit of “Noble and Valuable UNDIP,” and in support of the “Diktisaintek Berdampak” program, this delegation is expected to inspire young generations to keep striving, creating, and making their alma mater proud.
