UNDIP, Semarang (November 2, 2025) – The Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences (FPP) at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) officially inaugurated the Undip Animal Health Center (UAHC) as part of its effort to realize a dignified and beneficial university. This facility is expected to support academic activities while providing animal health services to the community.
In his remarks, UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed appreciation for the support of all parties in establishing the UAHC.
“UAHC represents the university’s real contribution to society and can serve as a practical training facility for students. The Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences has reached a remarkable level, and we hope all faculties at UNDIP will uphold similar standards in supporting academic and community engagement activities. We also extend our gratitude to PT Medion for supporting this initiative,” he stated.
Dean of FPP UNDIP, Prof. Sugiharto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., explained that the establishment of UAHC is a strategic step to strengthen learning in the field of animal health. “UAHC is fully funded by PT Medion as a form of industrial involvement in education, expected to support two courses in the Animal Science Study Program—Animal Health Science and Veterinary Public Health. In addition, UAHC will also provide examination and treatment services for animals in the community,” he said.
Furthermore, the UAHC will serve as a collaborative practice center for several veterinarians affiliated with the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (PDHI) Semarang Branch. In addition to medical services, the facility will offer pet food and supply sales, grooming services, and even a pet hotel. The operational proceeds from UAHC will be allocated to provide full scholarships for FPP UNDIP students.
The establishment of UAHC was made possible through the support of PT Medion as an industrial partner. Adi Susanto Cahyadi, S.Farm., M.M., Business Development Manager of PT Medion, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with UNDIP. “We have long partnered with UNDIP in various fields, including close house facilities, scholarships, guest lectures, research, and recruitment. Currently, many of UNDIP’s top graduates have contributed to PT Medion, from production to managerial divisions,” he said.
This new collaboration between UNDIP and PT Medion is expected to have a significant impact, especially in the area of companion animal health services. “We hope the presence of UAHC marks the beginning of a new collaboration between Medion and UNDIP in delivering excellent services in animal health while preparing graduates who are competent and adaptable to industry needs,” he added.
Support also came from the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (PDHI) Jawa Tengah Branch I. PDHI Chairperson, drh. Theresia Anna Ekawati stated that the establishment of UAHC is highly relevant to the increasing public demand for animal health services.
“Since the pandemic, more people have been keeping pets, especially cats. UAHC is here to meet those needs, not only for livestock but also for companion animals,” she explained.
During the inauguration, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between Universitas Diponegoro and PDHI Jawa Tengah I. The collaboration serves as a foundation for developing animal health, education, and community service while strengthening synergy between academia and veterinary practitioners in Jawa Tengah.
As part of the inauguration event, free animal health check-ups and vaccinations were conducted with the support of PDHI Jawa Tengah I and the Provincial Livestock and Animal Health Service. This activity serves as a tangible example of UNDIP’s commitment, together with its partners, to providing direct benefits to the surrounding community.
With the inauguration of the Undip Animal Health Center, Universitas Diponegoro reaffirms its commitment to continuous innovation and contribution in the fields of education, research, and animal health services in Indonesia. (Public Communication/UNDIP/Hng)
