Promoting Environmental Conservation, Universitas Diponegoro and Polda of Central Java Plant Trees at KHDTK Wanadipa

UNDIP, Semarang (December 22, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), in collaboration with the Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jateng), carried out a concrete environmental conservation action through a tree-planting activity at the Special Purpose Forest Area (Kawasan Hutan Dengan Tujuan Khusus/KHDTK) Wanadipa, Semarang. The activity, titled Planting Goodness for the Future, was held on Monday (December 22) at 10:00 a.m. and was attended by the Chief of Polda of Central Java, Irjen Pol. Ribut Hari Wibowo, and the Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si.

Prof. Dr. Suharnomo stated that environmental care initiatives are part of character building and the development of positive networks.

“Your networking is your future currency. When we care for others and care for the environment, God will care for us,” he said. Through this collaboration, UNDIP expects students to develop social and environmental awareness as essential capital in contributing to the broader community.

In line with this spirit, the Polda of Central Java demonstrated a strong commitment by integrating tree-planting obligations into their administrative procedures. The Chief of Police instructed that tangible greening efforts must accompany every act of official authority.

“Every activity related to my signature, where I exercise authority, must be accompanied by tree planting. Whether it is for marriage registration, leave applications, or promotion processes—planting trees is mandatory,” asserted Inspector General Ribut Hari. This policy is expected to encourage a massive greening movement throughout Central Java through leadership by example within the Indonesian National Police.

Similarly, the Head of KHDTK Wanadipa UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Puryono KS, M.P., emphasized that this tree-planting initiative is a concrete step to strengthen the forest area’s ecological function while also serving as an educational platform for students to maintain environmental sustainability.

“KHDTK Wanadipa is an educational forest area managed by UNDIP as a center for research and conservation. Planting is a perpetual investment that must not be delayed under any circumstances,” he stressed.

He further added, “Planting goodness for the future is extraordinary. Even in our belief, if tomorrow were the end of the world, as long as we are still holding seeds, we must plant them. Every seed planted today is a valuable legacy for future generations.”

This activity is expected not to remain merely ceremonial but to continue as a sustainable movement. By involving various stakeholders—from law enforcement officers to academics and students—this synergy demonstrates that environmental conservation is a shared responsibility for maintaining ecosystem balance and preventing future natural disasters.
