UNDIP Patriot Expedition Team Develops the Maukaro Transmigration Area, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara

UNDIP, Semarang (October 2, 2025) – The Output 2 Team of the UNDIP Patriot Expedition in Maukaro District, Ende (TEP Output 2 UNDIP Maukaro District, Ende) continues to explore the development of leading commodities in the transmigration area of Maukaro District, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

Following the formulation of a joint agreement with all community elements in Maukaro District to develop Bali cattle livestock commodities, the UNDIP’s Patriot Output 2 team at Maukaro District has strengthened strategic collaboration through an audience meeting with the Regent of Ende on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

The Regent of Ende, Yosef Benediktus Badeoda, S.H., M.H., expressed full support for the initiatives initiated by the UNDIP team at Maukaro District and emphasized the importance of community involvement in driving the local economy based on Bali cattle farming.

“The Ende Regency Government is fully prepared to provide full support if the community is truly enthusiastic and committed to developing this leading Bali cattle commodity. One form of support currently being planned is the establishment of a Regional-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) as a platform for economic management and more directed and sustainable infrastructure development,” stated the Regent of Ende during the meeting.

The establishment of the BUMD is expected to strengthen the Bali cattle value chain from upstream to downstream, ensuring that economic benefits are directly felt by communities within and around the transmigration area.

“Pentahelix synergy among government, academia, community/groups, the business sector, and the media is the key to creating a competitive and sustainable livestock development system. We hope that the results of this audience meeting will become a strong foundation for formulating development strategies for leading commodities in the transmigration area of Maukaro District,” said the Chair of the UNDIP team at Maukaro District, Ende, Ir. Daud Samsudewa, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D., IPM.

Synergy and collaboration are key in developing Bali cattle commodities in Maukaro District. However, institutional strengthening and human resource development remain prerequisites for enhancing farmers’ independence while increasing stakeholder confidence to synergize and collaborate in supporting transmigration area development.
