UNDIP and RA Kartini Regional Hospital Collaborate to Hold SUKARUN, the Largest Running Event in Jepara

UNDIP, Semarang (8/4) – The Rector of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) received an official visit and courtesy meeting from the management of RA Kartini Regional Hospital (RSUD R.A. Kartini) Jepara to discuss strengthening collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as well as coordinating the organization of the “SUKARUN” running event. The meeting, held at 10:00 AM in the Rector’s Meeting Room, 2nd Floor of the Widya Puraya Building, marked an important milestone for both institutions in aligning their vision for healthcare development and community service in the Jepara region.

RSUD R.A. Kartini presented its strategic plan for the SUKARUN event, scheduled for April 19, 2026, as the highlight of its anniversary celebration. The event, to be held at the UNDIP Jepara Campus, is projected to become the largest running event in Jepara, targeting 1,300–1,500 participants, exceeding previous similar events. The selection of the UNDIP Jepara Campus is based on its coastal landscape’s aesthetic appeal, which is expected to provide a memorable visual experience for participants.

Beyond its recreational aspect, SUKARUN is designed as a platform for local economic empowerment, involving Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from surrounding villages such as Teluk Awur. The program also incorporates humanitarian elements, including blood donation drives, free health check-ups, and social assistance for orphans and people with disabilities.

The Director of Services at RSUD R.A. Kartini emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “We hope this initiative can be sustained and become another iconic event for Jepara, while also revitalizing tourism and the local economy through strategic partnership with UNDIP.”

From an academic and institutional development perspective, the meeting also explored opportunities for higher education collaboration, particularly for healthcare professionals and hospital staff seeking further studies. There is strong interest in the Master’s Program in Nursing and in strengthening expertise in culinary tourism, both of which align with Jepara’s development as an iconic destination. This initiative is expected to enhance human resources’ competency at RSUD R.A. Kartini and support improved healthcare service standards.

The Rector of UNDIP welcomed the collaboration and highlighted the university’s track record in building strategic partnerships to support regional development. Regarding the formalization of cooperation, RSUD R.A. Kartini representatives confirmed that administrative processes have been coordinated with the provincial government to accelerate the MoU realization. “We have communicated with the provincial authorities regarding the MoU for cooperation in higher education and hospital services, including management aspects,” the hospital management representative stated.

Through this synergy, Universitas Diponegoro continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst for regional development through contributions in education and infrastructure. The SUKARUN event in Teluk Awur is expected not only to be ceremonial but also to stimulate tourism and strengthen collaboration between academia and healthcare practitioners. This partnership reflects UNDIP’s commitment to community service, aligned with its spirit of noble and valuable. (Public Communication/UNDIP/Riri)
