UNDIP Encourages Children’s Interest in Reading in Batang District

Diponegoro University encourages children’s interest in reading in Omah Sinau, Wonokerto Village, Bandar District, Batang Regency on Sunday (9/10) morning. This effort is a form of service for the D3 Public Relations Study Program Undip, Batang Campus.

The Head of the Community Service team, Rintulebda A. Kaloka, said that children’s interest in reading is the main foundation in learning. The desire to read must be instilled from an early age, because with a high interest in reading, children will be able to absorb various knowledge.

“Interest in reading does not have to start with school subjects, but can be started by reading short stories. Children’s curiosity is the basic capital to increase interest in reading, the task of parents or closest family is to direct their curiosity into reading. In addition, children’s creativity will be further honed if children like to read stories, imagination becomes an important factor in children’s growth and development. Sometimes parents limit the creativity of their children and this is not a good thing. Let the child’s imagination develop according to his age,” he continued.

The manager of the Omah Sinau community, Slamet Nur Khamid, stated that the dedication carried out by Undip has sparked the Omah Sinau community to be even more enthusiastic in stimulating children’s reading interest.
