Geological Engineering students of Diponegoro University succeeded in making a proud achievement in a student competition throughout Indonesia in the mining sector. The competition entitled Agincourt Resources Olympiad was organized by PT Agincourt Resources. This competition is a series of activities held in several months. The highlight of the event was held on Friday (31/3) to Sunday (2/4) at the Alana Hotel, Yogyakarta, as reported by the website geologi.ft.undip.ac.id.
The competition activities are organized by PT Agincourt Resources with the theme “Mineral Discovery, Unearthing Sustainable Future”. In the 2022 OlympiAR, students competed in a case study of the Martabe Gold Mine process, from exploration to post-mining. This competition aims to encourage students to have experience and find new potential in geology and mining development. The end result of this competition is the processing of Martabe Gold Mine resource calculation data and presentations which will later be used for educational activities.
In this competition, the Magsite Team consisted of 3 (three) Class 2019 students, namely Aisyah Ghalda Lamis (21100119120006), Arindha Prameswari (21100119130060), and Muhammad Haviz Ramdhani (21100119130076). Being the only representative from Diponegoro University actually spurred their enthusiasm in participating in the competition, even though the opponents numbered 70 teams from 26 universities throughout Indonesia. They participated in various stages of the competition until they finally passed as finalists. Together with the other 4 (four) finalists, Aisyah and her team brilliantly presented and defended the results in front of the judges.
Being the first winner, the Magsite Team was awarded the 1st Warrior of OlympiAR title with prizes in the form of coaching money worth tens of millions of rupiah and the opportunity to take part in an internship at the Martabe Gold Mine, North Sumatra owned by PT Agincourt Resources. Of course this victory is very valuable for Aisyah, Arin and Haviz not only from the awards received, but also from the knowledge gained.
“This competition is our first step to open up bigger opportunities and help us learn a lot about the world of mining, especially resource estimation. Hopefully in the future our juniors in Geology Undip can continue this achievement on the international stage,” hoped Aisyah and the team.
For this glorious achievement, all Undip academics, especially the Department of Geological Engineering Undip, congratulate and thank you for the contribution that has been made.
