The International Office of Diponegoro University (KUI Undip) held the 2023 Diponegoro International Orientation (DIO) Day on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the Gumaya Tower Hotel Semarang at 09:30 – 16:00 WIB. The 2023 DIO Day was held with the purpose of welcoming Undip international students for the Academic Year of 2022/2023 and providing them with basic material about Indonesia and Diponegoro University. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Deputy Dean I of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Bureau, and the KUI coordinator of the faculties at Undip attended this event.
Head of KUI Undip, Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D., representing the university leaders, officially opened the 2023 DIO Day. “Undip international students here registered from the Dharmasiswa program, KMB, Undip scholarships, and independent tuition. KUI Undip provides excellent service to international students by providing information about facilities at Undip and around Undip. Welcome to studying together at Undip for the next few years. Have fun!” said Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D.
The event continued with the presentation of material by KUI Undip staff, Abdul Rohman, S.Hum. entitled “Indonesia Unveiled, Embracing Diversity for Unity.” Undip international students learn about language, ethnicity, religion, climate, culture and culinary diversity in Indonesia. They are also taught ethical etiquette and culture in interacting with other people and how to dress on campus.
Meanwhile, Winda Febiana, S.Hum. from KUI Undip, explained the “Brief Process of VISA and Permissions.” The VISA application procedures, how to obtain a study permit, E-VISA, KITAS (limited stay permit), Reporting Certificate (STM), and all forms of permits are explained in detail to international students.
The presentation continued with Parallel 1: Cross-Cultural Understanding for International Students and Parallel 2: Management of International Students at Undip. The Cross-Cultural Understanding material was guided by Annastasia Ediati, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., who is a psychologist with interactive games and discussions about cultural diversity in the world.
All KUI faculty coordinators at Undip attended the presentation on International Student Management at Undip. KUI Undip also invited representatives from the Class I Immigration Office – Semarang, Christine Ingke Amelia Sompotan, as Head of Immigration Stay Permit Sub-Section, who explained the “Educational Activities Immigration Stay Permit.” With this training, it is hoped that the KUI coordinator at faculties can understand more about immigration, visas and residence permits in accordance with the regulations of the Immigration Office of the Republic of Indonesia so that they can provide understanding for international students if they have difficulty processing documents.
