UNDIP Delegation Participated in THE World Academic Summit at The University of Sydney on September 26-28, 2023

Focusing on the theme of collaboration, the Times Higher Education (THE) World Academic Summit at The University of Sydney on September 26-28, 2023, examined the role of higher education, industry and policy-making leaders in diversifying and looking at the future challenges of global higher education and their approaches to the current global education system.

More than 550 delegates from almost 50 countries gathered at The University of Sydney to explore how regional, national and global collaboration can strengthen the role of universities as key drivers of change in society.

THE World Academic Summit 2023 agenda theme:

  • Promote gender equality and diversity
  • Integrate multidisciplinary research initiatives
  • Increasing collaboration across scientific communities
  • Adopt new teaching and learning methods

The Diponegoro University delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ambariyanto, MSc., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Cooperation, Prof. Denny Nugroho Sugianto and Dessy Ariyanti Ph.D., the Head and Deputy Head of the Undip Ranking Office, and Ahmad Ni’matullah Al-Baarri, Ph.D. one of the WCU Undip task force teams.

In the ongoing discussion, some of the world’s most influential leaders and change makers discussed how institutions can best collaborate, both internally across departments to accelerate transformative and translational research and externally through partnerships with industry, government and civil society to advance the application of world-class innovation. Present as one of the speakers was Prof. Ir. Nizam. M.Sc., Ph.D., one of Indonesia’s higher education policymakers who serves as Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

At this event, the delegation from Undip also had the opportunity to discuss directly with THE World University Rankings team led by Julie Wilkens McMahon, Regional Director Asia Pacific – THE (Times Higher Education) on Data masterclass: Insights and Analysis into the THE World University Rankings 2024 for Diponegoro University.

The Undip delegation had a discussion with Prof. Ir. Nizam. M.Sc., Ph.D. (Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education and Culture) and Prof. Dr. Mukhamad Najib, Education and Cultural Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Australia, on the sidelines of attending THE World Academic Summit at The University of Sydney on September 26-28, 2023.
