UNDIP PKUM Thematic Community Service Strengthened Synergy with Tugurejo Village in Efforts to Develop Sustainable Tourism

Semarang – Central Java (6/11). UNDIP PKUM (Strengthening Community Leading Commodities) Thematic KKN (Community Service) students were accompanied by FPIK (Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences) Undip lecturer Dr. Ir. Suryanti, M.Pi. They visited the Tugurejo Village Office to discuss the programs that the PKUM Thematic KKN team will implement in the future. The programs that will be implemented are based on coastal resources to support smart tourism and community independence.

One of the programs implemented is the creation of a website as a promotional and information medium. This website is also expected to be able to increase partner access in selling their products. The leading commodity that has partnered is Putri Tirang MSME. Putri Tirang is an MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) that is developing in the business of processing food from milkfish.

Tapak Village is a coastal area that has a lot of diverse potential for development. The work program of the Undip PKUM Thematic KKN Team was supported and welcomed by partners and the Head of Tugurejo Village, Mrs. MT. Munjaenah, SE. She was a finalist for the Outstanding Village Head competition in 2023. Suryanti, chairman of the 2023 Undip PKUM Team, said, “It is hoped that the web creation program will be sustainable so that it can expand access to information related to smart tourism as well as a media for promoting superior MSME products for the people of Tugurejo.”

Meanwhile, the Head of Tugurejo Village, Munjaenah, said that the program implemented by the PKUM Team had a very positive impact on the community as it introduced the hidden potential of eco edu tourism in Tugurejo which is not widely known to the public, such as Eco Edu Tourism Tapak Mangrove, Tirang Island, Candi Tugu Historical Site, Kiai Prabu Anom Tomb, Putri Tirang MSME, Mawar Merah Waste Bank, and supporting the Local Community Economic Revival Movement (Gerbang Elok).

One of the other essential programs carried out by the Undip PKUM Thematic KKN Team is training in coastal resource mapping and sustainable mangrove management. This will contribute positively to supporting the smart tourism initiative and the Tapak community in the Tourism Awareness Movement “Bina Tapak Lestari.” It was initiated by Mr Sutopo, one of the community leaders in the tourism awareness group.
