Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Diponegoro University (Undip), Prof. Dian Ratna Sawitri, Ph.D., together with the Vice Rector for Research Innovation and Cooperation, the Deans at Undip, the Head of the Undip Ranking Office, and the entire support team attended the QS Higher Education Summit: Asia Pacific 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia on November 7-9, 2023. This activity with organizing partner Universiti Kebangsaaan Malaysia was held in collaboration with Applied Science Private University with the theme “Creating the Right Outcomes: Universities and the Future of Work in the Asia Pacific.”
This activity is driven by the strong desire of universities in the Asia Pacific to ensure that their graduates have skills and knowledge that are relevant to the needs of the world of work and ever-changing societal conditions and can anticipate various disruptors, such as automation and the gig economy. This meeting also specifically discussed strategies for developing student creativity, adaptability and critical thinking skills; strategies for industry to collaborate with universities in developing talent; identification of new areas of industrial research partnerships; and strategies for optimizing AI.
On the first day, November 7, 2023, the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Undip also extended the MoU with the University of Cyberjaya, which has been Undip’s partner, especially the Faculty of Psychology for 4 years for visiting professor, guest lecturer and student mobility activities. The Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Undip also signed an MoA together with the Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, INTI International University and Colleges, Malaysia, to strengthen international collaboration in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially student mobility, staff mobility, and international engagement. The partnership completes the achievements of the Undip delegation, who successfully signed 30 cooperation documents (7 MoUs, 20 MoAs, and 2 LoAs) during this activity. On the same day, the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Undip also strengthened cooperation by visiting the University of Malaya to meet with the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The first day was closed with a gala dinner held by the organizers to welcome participants of the QS HES Summit: Asia Pacific 2023.
On the second day, November 8, 2023, Prof. Sawitri gave a guest lecture at the University of Malaya by presenting the material “Following the Ph.D. Yellow Brick Road, Navigating Your Doctoral Journey,” held by the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. An audience of doctoral students from various departments and related supervisors attended this activity.
On the third day, namely on November 9, 2023, Prof Sawitri made a live presentation with the title, “Breaking through Barriers: The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Promoting First-Generation College Student Academic Performance and Career Success.” Prof. Sawitri stated that this event is a forum for promoting academic expertise, expanding international networks, and optimizing the efforts of universities, especially in the Asia Pacific, to be able to have a meaningful impact on the global community. Prof. Sawitri also visited Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and met with the Deputy Director of the International Relations Centre and representatives of the Centre for Research in Psychology and Human Well-Being to initiate collaboration. The third day was closed with a Ranking Session and Dinner with university leaders, speakers and organizers. The active participation of the Faculty of Psychology Undip in this prestigious event is expected to realize the faculty’s vision as a center for developing Indonesian family-based psychology that is adaptive to changing times in Southeast Asia in 2025 and supports Undip’s vision of becoming an excellent research university.
