Semarang – Central Java (11/12). David Farella Christhoper Marsono, or better known as David, is an Undip student who has a strong interest in being involved in the world of tourism. For him, tourism is a world that is close to him, and he has loved to admire the beauty of nature since childhood. The student from the Communication Science undergraduate study program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University, class of 2022, said that when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, he really saw that Indonesian tourism was a sector that was affected and even in decline. Since then, a determination has emerged within him to contribute to tourism and not just enjoy it. His efforts were worthwhile; this year, David achieved the First Runner-Up in Putra Pariwisata Nusantara 2023 as the Putra Pesona Indonesia 2023.a
“I started my journey in the pageant industry in 2020, when I became a representative for Central Java in the selection of Mister Tourism Teen Indonesia 2020 with the final title as Top 7 Mister Tourism Teen Indonesia 2020 and Mister Tourism Teen Indonesia Congeniality 2020. Then, in 2021, I decided to return to my hometown by participating in the election of Mas Mbak Duta Wisata Kabupaten Sukoharjo 2021 and won the title of Mas Sukoharjo Favorite 2021. The journey continued in 2023 when I was entrusted to be a Communication Sciences delegate in the election of Mas and Mbak FISIP Undip 2023. I became the TOP 5 Mas FISIP Undip 2023. Feeling dissatisfied, I decided to take part in the 20233 Putra Pariwisata Nusantara election for Central Java Province, and then I represented Central Java in the 2023 Putra Putri Pariwisata Nusantara election. In that championship, I managed to reach the position of First Runner-Up in Putra Pariwisata Nusantara 2023 as the Putra Pesona Indonesia 2023,” said David in his interview with the Undip Public Relations team. Apart from that, in the selection of Putra Putri Pariwisata Nusantara 2023, David also succeeded in bringing several attribute titles, namely Putra Wisata Nusantara Kebudayaan 2023 and Putra Wisata Nusantara Best National Costume 2023.
This FISIP Undip student admitted that while taking part in Putra Putri Wisata Nusantara 2023, the road he went through was full of twists and turns and was certainly not an easy thing. However, he is very grateful because his parents always support his steps. The money spent is not few, and overall, it is personal costs.
“During this journey, there were also many individuals who tried to bring me down mentally by carrying out cyberbullying. In the pageant competition, we are also required to have public speaking, catwalk skills, and advocacy skills to carry out. Preparations were carried out for approximately one month, and Praise God, on the final night, it all paid off with a very proud title,” said David.
David invited his fellow students to work together to advance Undip tourism; for example, Diponegoro Hill, which recently went viral, could become a tourism potential in Undip. He said, “We are able to contribute to our beloved university. As students, our steps can start by contributing achievements from various fields, working with the creativity we have, and giving dedication from other things that our colleagues may have.” (Titis-Public Relations)
