The team of students from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University (FSM UNDIP), led by Risqi Prastianto Setiawan (Physics study program, class of 2022), with members Fauzul Azim (Physics study program, class of 2022) and Muhammad Bintang Yanuar (Biology study program, class of 2022) succeeded in getting 2nd (second) national winner in the 2023 Brawijaya Machine Creativity Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI) which was held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Brawijaya University Malang.
Risqi and his team, GRAPHO, managed to win second place after presenting an innovative work regarding reverse osmosis membranes with graphene oxide material as the membrane material to overcome the problem of surfactant liquid waste. “This innovation started from the problem of poor water sanitation in Indonesia even though this country has abundant water,” said Risqi.
The achievements achieved are the result of a thorough preparation process. Previously, the GRAPHO team made preparations by reading literature from journals provided by UNDIP, observing current problems, and providing solutions. “After that, together with the team, we compiled a scientific paper, and Alhamdulillah, we managed to pass and get 2nd place,” he explained.
“This achievement provides motivation and encouragement for us as the GRAPHO team to develop this innovation into research and apply it to society and industry to realize sustainable water sanitation,” added Risqi.
This activity, which was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Brawijaya University, carried the theme “Energy Transition from Fossil Energy to Sustainable Renewable Energy.” The Brawijaya Machine Creativity LKTI 2023 is a place where young researchers develop their ideas for the nation’s progress.
Furthermore, Risqi advised the younger generation of UNDIP to continually develop their potential so that they become individuals who are more helpful to others. “As Mr. Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie said, be someone like a clear spring that is able to provide benefits to those around you,” concluded Risqi.
