The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Central Java and the Department of Statistics at Diponegoro University inaugurated the Statistics Corner and a Public Lecture on “Official Statistics Literacy for the Academic Community” on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. The Public Lecture was held at the Acintya Prasada Building, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University.
The Public Lecture began with remarks from the Chair of the Department of Statistics at Diponegoro University, Dr. Tarno, M.Si. He mentioned that statistics students at Diponegoro University still need to understand official statistics and thus require expert explanations deeply. The Public Lecture was delivered by the Director of Statistical Dissemination, Dwi Retno Wilujeng Wahyu Utami, S.Si., M.Si., and moderated by Dr. Moh. Abdul Mukid, S.Si., M.Si.
The event was attended by 200 statistics students from Diponegoro University, statistics lecturers from Diponegoro University, heads of statistics study programs from several other universities in Central Java, and heads of BPS from cities/districts in Central Java.
The event continued with the inauguration of the BPS Statistics Corner located at Building G, Faculty of Science and Mathematics Undip. The ribbon-cutting ceremony began with remarks from the head of the BPS Deputy of Statistical Production, M. Habibullah S.Si, M.Si., accompanied by the Head of BPS Central Java and the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics Undip Prof. Dr. Widowati, S.Si., M.Si. The hope from the Deputy Head is that the BPS Statistics Corner at Diponegoro University can contribute to statistics students at Diponegoro University and students from other universities. (Yeye)
