Rector: Be Proud to be UNDIP Graduates and Have a Successful Career

The faces of joy and happiness radiated from the UNDIP graduates and their families who attended the 174th UNDIP Graduation Ceremony in 2024. The solemn ceremony took place at the Muladi Dome, Multipurpose Building (GSG) of Diponegoro University, Tembalang.

UNDIP inaugurated 2,491 students in the 174th graduation ceremony held from April 23rd to 26th, 2024. The graduates consisted of 41 Doctoral Program students; 349 Master’s students; 40 Medical Specialist Education students; 82 Professional students; 1897 Bachelor’s students; 73 Applied Bachelor (D4) students; and 9 Diploma students. This graduation also included 231 students from the Bidikmisi program.

The graduates are expected to quickly find employment or establish businesses that create job opportunities for others. UNDIP has accomplished numerous things both nationally and internationally, one of which is evidenced by its current holding the top ranking in Indonesia for the fastest employment rate of its graduates.

Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., the Rector of Diponegoro University Semarang, began his address by congratulating the graduates who have officially earned their diplomas, bachelor’s, master’s, specialist, professional, and doctoral degrees. “With prayers, may you succeed in finding employment and have a successful career,” Prof. Yos said.

“Take pride in completing your studies at UNDIP, one of the best universities in Indonesia, with achievements such as being ranked 1st nationally for the university with the fastest employability of its alumni according to the QS Ranking for Employability 2021-2022; 2nd national ranking and 30th world ranking for Sustainable University according to UI Greenmetric 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023; 2nd national ranking for the Best PTNBH in 2021 and Top 5 Best PTNBH in 2022; Top 8 National Rank for World University Rank 2023 according to QS WUR; Top 5 Favorite Universities for 5 consecutive years and more than 20 internationally accredited programs, ABEST, FIBAA, ASIIN; 24 programs ranking 1st to 3rd best nationally,” Prof. Yos stated.

“Success lies in being a righteous person, even if one may not be wealthy or hold high positions, but possesses a free spirit to speak the truth according to conscience,” he added. “Indeed, the meaning of success as UNDIP alumni is to orient oneself as a humble individual always focused on benefiting others and not causing harm,” Prof. Yos continued.

Meanwhile, in his opening remarks, Prof. Ir. Edy Rianto, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, the Chair of the Academic Senate, urged, “Spread yourselves across the archipelago and even the world. Raise the flag of Diponegoro wherever you are. Be agents of change and development for the advancement of human civilization and the welfare of society. Stay humble and avoid arrogance.”

Furthermore, Prof. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si, the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, reported that the offline graduation was held in 4 stages over 4 days. Up to this graduation period, the number of UNDIP graduates has reached 263,025, with 1,570 graduates, or 63.03%, receiving cum laude honors. “May the graduates always succeed in their careers and continue to be role models for society,” Prof. Suharnomo concluded in his report.
