The Antawirya team from UNDIP completed the competition at the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia Pacific and the Middle East (SEMA) 2024, held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok from July 2 to 6, 2024. The competition featured participants from various countries across Asia and the Middle East. The Antawirya team won three awards in three different categories:
- Third place in the Urban Concept Internal Combustion Engine category with a fuel efficiency of 363 km/l.
- Fourth place in the Prototype Battery-Electric category with a battery efficiency of 806 km/kWh.
- Runner-Up in the Carbon Footprint Reduction Award for the Off-Track category using balsa wood for the body of the Prototype Battery-Electric car, Rondhan.
This year’s competition showed improvements in both the Gentayu (Urban) and Rondhan (Prototype) cars, and the team also achieved success in the Off-Track category.
Zarir Athaullah, General Manager of the Antawirya UNDIP team, mentioned that although Rondhan did not achieve a top-three finish in all categories, the team’s performance was commendable. The University must be grateful because the Antawirya team competed very well.
“There were improvements in efficiency from last year, and the team also brought home new achievements that we can be proud of.” he said.
Meanwhile, the Rondhan Manager, known as Yuko, expressed that despite the results not meeting their expectations, the Antawirya team plans to bounce back at the upcoming Energy Efficient Car Contest (KMHE) with even better performance.
“From the SEMA 2024 competition, we learned that without good teamwork, we would not have achieved the current success. Without effort and sacrifice, there would be no champions,” he added.
“We would like to thank all those who have continuously supported the Antawirya team over the years, particularly the Mechanical Engineering Association, especially the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, which has been our home. We also thank the Faculty of Engineering for their financial support and for providing facilities and infrastructure for the team. Most importantly, we are grateful to Diponegoro University for their unwavering support and appreciation for our innovations, providing adequate facilities that enable the Antawirya team to compete on both national and international stages,” said Zarir and Yuko.
