Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has once again achieved a remarkable milestone, securing the third position in Indonesia in the Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2024. This ranking underscores UNDIP’s commitment to enhancing the quality of research, innovation, and significant social impact.
The Scimago Institutions Rankings utilize three main groups of indicators that reflect the scientific, economic, and social characteristics of an institution. These indicators include two types: size-dependent indicators, such as the number of publications and scientific output, and size-independent indicators, such as the quality and impact of those publications. The rankings provide a comprehensive insight into an institution’s performance across various dimensions.
In the SIR 2024 list, UNDIP ranked third nationally and 2060th globally, surpassing prominent Indonesian institutions such as Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Universitas Brawijaya, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS).
UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for this achievement. “This result is a testament to the hard work of the entire UNDIP academic community. We will remain committed to improving the quality of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, not only to achieve the World Class University ranking for UNDIP but also to make a tangible contribution to society,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector IV UNDIP, Wijayanto, Ph.D., emphasized that this achievement is a product of the hard work of the entire UNDIP academic community. He continues to encourage UNDIP scholars to make significant intellectual contributions to both national and international scholarly communities.
“Scimago documents publications from scholars worldwide. UNDIP’s ranking as the third-best in Indonesia signifies that the thoughts and research of the UNDIP academic community are among the best in the country,” he added.
This achievement solidifies UNDIP’s position as one of Indonesia’s leading universities, as reflected in its contributions through internationally recognized scientific works. It demonstrates that UNDIP can make a tangible impact on the advancement of knowledge through quality research, relevant innovations, and broad social influence. (NH)
