UNDIP Performance Achievement Award 2024: Inspiring the Academic Community to Achieve the Top 500 World Ranking

UNDIP, Semarang (24/1) – A festive atmosphere filled Muladi Dome, Tembalang, on Friday night as Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) hosted the UNDIP Performance Achievement Award 2024. In this prestigious event, the Faculty of Law emerged as the overall champion, securing an outstanding achievement of 3 Gold and 1 Silver medals and winning an official vehicle as a prize. UNDIP presented 30 awards across various categories to faculties and schools with the best performance in supporting World Class University (WCU) rankings.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., stated, “The UNDIP Performance Achievement Award 2024 reflects UNDIP’s commitment to securing a place among the world’s top 500 universities. While rankings are not our sole focus—since our core values emphasize dignity in knowledge and meaningful contributions—we acknowledge that rankings are a reality.

Therefore, UNDIP remains committed to participating in these rankings, as they serve as a key indicator of global recognition and reputation. Rankings also act as a reference for prospective students when choosing universities,” said the Rector. His speech was particularly special as he concluded by reciting the poem “Diponegoro” by Chairil Anwar, aiming to inspire and ignite the spirit of the academic community to strive for excellence.

The UNDIP Performance Achievement Award 2024 included competitions in four fields, each comprising multiple award categories. Winners were selected based on strictly defined indicators by the organizing committee.

The winners were announced by UNDIP’s Vice Rectors, who took turns presenting the awards:

  2. Vice Rector II, Dr. Warsito Kawedar, S.E., M.Si., Akt., for Field II

The Faculty of Law secured 3 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal, earning the title of Overall Champion and receiving an official vehicle as a symbolic award from the UNDIP Rector. Other notable faculties included the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), with 2 Gold Medals; the Faculty of Economics and Business, with 1 Gold Medal & 5 Bronze Medals; and the Faculty of Engineering, with 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals & 2 Bronze Medals.

In addition to faculty awards, UNDIP also honored Prof. Dr. Ir. Ambariyanto, M.Sc. (Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science) with the UNDIP Lifetime Achievement for Greenmetric Award. This prestigious award, which UNDIP leaders and its community attended, recognized his leadership in enhancing UNDIP’s ranking in UI GreenMetric and his contributions to sustainability initiatives at UNDIP.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Ambariyanto expressed gratitude,

“This award is not just for me but for all of us. UNDIP’s achievements result from our collective hard work at the Faculty and University levels. I am fortunate to have leaders like Prof. Yos and Prof. Suharnomo, who have always supported ranking-related initiatives.” He also expressed hope that UNDIP would maintain or improve its ranking in UI GreenMetric, which will be hosted by UNDIP this year.
