UNDIP Rector Tests the Resilience of Maung Mv3 Pindad Ransus Kodim 0733 Assistance from President Prabowo

UNDIP, Semarang (March 11) – The Rector of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., accompanied by Mrs. Dewi Suharnomo, took part in a test drive of the Maung Mv3 Tangguh Series (4×4 Tactical Vehicle) on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

This tactical vehicle was a gift from the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, for Kodim 0733 Semarang City. The test drive began at Muladi Dome, with a route through UNDIP’s campus terrain to evaluate Maung’s performance.

During the test drive, Prof. Suharnomo experienced the Maung’s durability firsthand as it navigated UNDIP’s steep and uphill roads. The Rector expressed his admiration after driving the Indonesian-made military vehicle.

“The design is incredible, the look is outstanding. Despite its large size, the suspension is surprisingly light. Some control features are positioned differently—for example, what is usually on the right side is on the left in the Maung. This is an amazing vehicle, and I feel proud of this local innovation,” said Prof. Suharnomo.

The Maung jeep is powered by a 2,200 cc diesel engine with a strong ladder frame chassis, capable of reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h. The Mv3 Tangguh model is a high-performance tactical vehicle, while the Mv3 Garuda Limousine—a more advanced version—is exclusively used as the official vehicle for the President of Indonesia and VVIP transportation.

Alongside the UNDIP Rector, Semarang residents visiting Muladi Dome had the opportunity to view and experience riding the Maung around UNDIP’s Tembalang campus. The Maung 4×4, developed by PT. Pindad is a light tactical vehicle designed for both military and civilian use. The name “Maung,” meaning “Tiger” in Sundanese, symbolizes the vehicle’s strength and agility across diverse terrains.

According to Kapten Inf Tono, Pasiops Kodim 0733 Semarang, the test drive aimed to familiarize the public with the Maung tactical vehicle through a convoy from the Kodim headquarters to UNDIP’s Muladi Dome, engaging with local communities along the way.

“Muladi Dome is currently hosting a Ramadan Bazaar, attracting many visitors, including students and residents. This event provided an excellent opportunity to introduce and test drive the Maung while strengthening the bond between the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the public. The TNI comes from the people and serves the people,” said Kapten Inf Tono.
