Strategies to Develop Adaptive and Excellent Human Resources in Facing Global Competition

UNDIP, Semarang (June 30, 2025) – The Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) Senate’s Board of Professors held a webinar titled “UNDIP’s Professor Talk,” carrying the theme “Strategies to Enhance Human Resources in Facing Global Competition.” The event took place on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 1 p.m. via Zoom meeting and was also broadcast live on UNDIP TV’s YouTube channel.

Prof. Dr. Adian Fatchur Rochim, S.T., M.T., Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal Affairs, and Organizational Affairs, opened the webinar. In his remarks, Prof. Adian expressed confidence that the forum would produce a wealth of ideas from UNDIP professors regarding the topic.

“I believe this forum will yield visionary and critical ideas. We must craft concrete strategies using our wisdom, experience, and academic knowledge. Lecturers need to be equipped with new competencies, including AI literacy. Curricula must be updated to align with future workforce needs while maintaining human values as a foundation in navigating technology,” he said.

Speaking about the use of artificial intelligence, Prof. Dr. Ir. Purwanto, DEA., Chair of the UNDIP’s Board of Professors, emphasized that Indonesia is capable of competing internationally, citing QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) as an example of technological innovation.

“AI-related tools such as QRIS are not only competitive but even challenge developed countries. This proves our capability. QRIS can be used in real-time—even by small-scale vendors. It shows that Indonesian human resources are capable,” he explained.

Prof. Ir. Vitus Dwi Yunianto BI, M.S., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, Chair of Commission D of the Board of Professors, noted in his remarks that the webinar aimed to address strategies for improving human resources.

Concluding the webinar, moderator Prof. Dr. Ir. Sriyana, M.S., IPU, APEC Eng., summarized that Indonesia’s national goals must align with sustainable, forward-looking SDG targets, particularly in human development driven by science and technology. Mastery of AI is not just a tech trend—it is a transformative force that shapes both the present and the future. Understanding AI’s capabilities, impacts, and applications is crucial for individuals, organizations, and communities. The transformation toward hybrid human resources is not optional but essential. AI is not a replacement for humans—but a tool to empower them. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ Zaila)
