UNDIP Volunteer Team Continues Humanitarian Mission in Aceh Tamiang

UNDIP, Semarang (18/1) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) once again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian action by deploying a Disaster Response Team to Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province. The team deployed on this occasion is the fifth, following four previous UNDIP deployments to assist with disaster response and post-disaster recovery efforts across regions of Sumatra and Aceh.

UNDIP Team Batch 5 is scheduled to serve from January 19–24, 2026, in Aceh Tamiang and at Universitas Syiah Kuala. The team will work in synergy with other UNDIP teams already deployed, particularly in providing clean water and disaster nutrition services to high-risk community groups, such as toddlers and pregnant women.

The Vice Chair for Community Service of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) UNDIP, Prof. dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto, M.Si., Med., Sp.And.(K)., M.M.R., Ph.D., explained that Team 5 consists of eight (8) personnel, including medical professionals, psychologists, and cross-disciplinary volunteers.

“This team will carry out health surveillance activities, psychosocial assistance, emergency school support, and recovery logistics preparation, such as the provision of hygiene kits, school uniforms, books, and other necessities,” Prof. Zulfa explained.

Furthermore, Prof. Zulfa emphasized that the deployment of UNDIP’s Disaster Response Team is a tangible manifestation of the university’s commitment to providing rapid, integrated, and sustainable disaster response.

“We hope that the presence of the UNDIP team can help ease the burden of our brothers and sisters in Aceh, while also supporting emergency response and recovery efforts carried out in collaboration with local governments and relevant stakeholders,” he stated.

The eight (8) personnel assigned to the humanitarian and recovery mission in Aceh Tamiang are as follows:

Through the deployment of this Disaster Response Team, UNDIP reaffirms its role as a higher education institution that excels in education and research and is also actively engaged in community service, particularly in humanitarian emergencies.
