SEMARANG – Alumni are one of the significant forces to strengthen and develop the campus. This is also done by Diponegoro University Psychology Alumni Association (Ikatan Alumni Psikologi Universitas Diponegoro / IKAPSI UNDIP) which has a tagline ‘connection collaboration-contribution’ and one of their activities is providing scholarships and assistance to their underclassmen.
Dean of Faculty of Psychology UNDIP, Prof. Dian Ratna Sawitri Ph.D, said that alumni who are members of IKAPSI Undip have provided grants in the form of scholarships, living expenses, assistance for thesis research and providing incentives for outstanding students. “The implementation of the assistance was carried out last weekend,” said Dian Ratna Sawitri, on Monday (21/6/2021).
According to her, the assistance collected from the Batch of 2000 was given to two students in the form of scholarship grants for 9 months with an amount of Rp 800,000 per month and thesis research assistance of Rp 2,400,000. Meanwhile, 2 other students received scholarship grants for 12 months with assistance of Rp. 800,000 per month.
In addition to provide scholarship grants, Undip Faculty of Psychology Alumni Batch of 2000 also provides incentives to 6 outstanding students of Faculty of Psychology in 2021, with a total amount of Rp. 3,550,000. “I would like to thank Rury Mega Octyavera, S.Psi., and the entire Batch of 2000 for carrying out this activity. Not to forget the Chairperson of IKAPSI Undip, Faris Fanani, S.Psi along with the management, and all members of IKAPSI Undip who also support the continuity of this activity. This is the second time this alumni scholarship has been awarded. The first scholarship grants were given by Undip Faculty of Psychology Alumni Batch of 1999, on February 26th 2021,” said Prof Witri.
The selection of grant recipients, she said, is based on the results of the selection and discussions conducted by the faculty, Student Executive Board represented by the Student Welfare Section, and representatives of alumni providing scholarships.
Prof. Sawitri said the role of alumni is very important in building strength to develop the campus. “I am grateful for the assistance from alumni and hope that it can be useful for the alma mater, especially the excellent younger student who really need financial assistance to support the completion of their studies on time.”
This scholarship is expected to help outstanding students who need economical support, to assist in the completion of thesis, and to provide recognition for outstanding students for their extraordinary efforts in their works. “Certainly, this activity is an encouragement for younger students to study, excel, and complete their studies, as well as encourage alumni from other generations to synergize and contribute to similar activities,” she said.
Since its establishment in 1995 and starting to accept students in 1996, Faculty of Psychology UNDIP has graduated at least 2,600 alumni. They are working in a number of regions in Indonesia and taking part in government and private institutions, opening psychology clinics, being entrepreneurs, and some are active abroad. Their role is getting stronger with the alumni network who always make connections, collaborate, and make contributions. (PR team)
