Tennis Championship Enlivened UNDIP’s 65th Anniversary

Tennis is a recreational sport as well as a popular spectator sport worldwide. Tennis is one of the Olympic sports which is played at all levels of society at all ages. Playing tennis means training all the organs of the body from the feet to running, the arms to swing the racket and balance, the mind to calculate all possibilities, and the heart to pump, ensuring we can play safely.

To complete supporting facilities and facilitating hobbies, Diponegoro University has built sports facilities such as stadiums, futsal courts, badminton courts, jogging tracks and tennis courts. Tennis is one of the favorite sports of the Undip community. Being one of the favorite sports in the world, tennis is one of the sports tournaments held to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Diponegoro University.

The tennis championship with participants from lecturers and students was held on November 19-20, 2022 at the Undip tennis court in Tembalang. According to Agus Setyawan as Deputy Academic Director, tennis is a hobby sport that is routinely carried out by lecturers, staff, and also students at Undip who have a hobby of playing tennis. Court tennis is currently a popular and trending sport because it is played by top artists such as Raffi Ahmad, Desta, Wulan Guritno, Gading Martin, Enzy, and Dion which are packaged in the “Tiba-Tiba Tenis” program. “Considering that many people like this sport, to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of Diponegoro University, we are holding a tennis championship for the Undip campus,” said Agus Setyawan as Head of the Tournament Committee. He added that the purpose of holding a tennis championship was to celebrate Undip’s anniversary, maintain health by exercising as well as build friendships.

This championship is supported by one of the partner banks, namely bank BTN. Deputy Head of the BTN Region, Mr. Subiyanto, was present at this event. The event was opened by the VIce Rector for Human Resources, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., and handed over the trophy. Also present at the tournament was the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo and the Head of LPPM Undip, Prof. Dr. Jamari.

The tennis championship was held for paired players with the results of the championship namely: 1st place for Prof. Nyoman and Bambang Irawan, 2nd place for Ketut and Sarjito, while 3rd place for Prof. Jamari and Joko Santoso, and also Ari and Arief. (Ut – Public Relations)
