The Public Poster Team from AMSA (Asian Medical Students’ Association) of Diponegoro University (Undip) won 1st place in the Public Poster category with the title MEMORY: Making the Most Out of Alzheimer’s Symptoms at the 2023 Asian Medical Students’ Conference (AMSC). This year’s AMSC was held offline in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, on July 10-16, 2023, and was attended by hundreds of medical students from various countries, namely Taiwan, Australia, England, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and South Korea. AMSC is an annual event in the form of a conference that includes academic activities such as competitions, keynote lectures, group discussions, group presentations, and long-term care visits. This year’s AMSC raises the theme Geriatrics: Care For The Future.
There are three competition categories at the 2023 AMSC: Scientific Poster, Public Poster, and Scientific Paper. The presentation for the Public Poster category was held on July 12, 2023, and was presented in the Poster Exhibition format. The three judges listened to presentations from each team for a maximum of 8 minutes, and then the judges and team members carried out the Question and Answer (QnA) for a maximum of 5 minutes. Specifically for the Public Poster category, all delegates can vote for a maximum of 3 posters they deem most worthy of winning.
The AMSA Undip team consists of 3 (three) members: Aditya Putri Setyanegari, Fadya Safitri, and Elizabeth Charissa Atmawidjaja. All three are Medical students class of 2022. As a supervisor, dr. Ryan Halleyantoro, M. Biomed, Sp. Par(K). Representing the team, Aditya Putri Setyanegari explained, “Our Public Poster entitled MEMORY: Making the Most Out of Alzheimer’s Symptoms aims to provide understanding to the wider community regarding the urgency of knowing the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. Our poster contains a definition of Alzheimer’s disease, risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease, and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, which we package in an acronym, “DILEMMA,” along with ways to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. We hope that people who read our posters can understand Alzheimer’s disease and the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease so that medical treatment can be obtained as early as possible and prevent Alzheimer’s disease from getting worse,” she said.
“This achievement certainly cannot be separated from the hard work and support from lecturers, parents, and friends. We are grateful to be able to make Diponegoro University proud on the international stage. We hope our posters can benefit the wider community,” she concluded.
