Undip Vice Rector III for Communication and Business Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos., M.Pol.Admin., Ph.D. officially opened the Library Visit Day event. In his speech, Prof. Budi revealed that libraries are essential in improving the quality of higher education.
Improving library quality and services is essential to meet national and international accreditation standards. “What we are doing today is the relevance of realizing an ideal library, which all Diponegoro University students can access,” said Prof Budi.
On the same occasion, the Head of UPT Library and Undip Press Suwondo, S.Hum., M.Kom. explained that this activity commemorated Library Visit Day on September 14. These various activities aim to introduce the services available at the Undip library. “The participants who came are estimated to be around 1000 people. “We are introducing the latest services and innovations, both in terms of applications and digital, one of which is the final project clinic service intended for students,” said Suwondo.
Apart from that, there are various competitions, such as batik dress and photo competitions. “We also want to preserve Indonesian culture by holding a batik fashion show competition at this event. A photo competition aims to introduce the better appearance of the Undip library and introduce the spaces in the library that have changed to be better,” he explained.
Apart from holding various competitions, this event has social activities like blood donation. “We work with the UPT for Occupational Health, Safety and Environment. Then, coordinate with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Central Java Province. We initially provided 50 bags for blood donors, and Alhamdulillah, currently, 165 blood donor participants have registered, and this will continue to increase until the end of this event. “My friends’ enthusiasm is extraordinary,” said Suwondo.
Furthermore, Suwondo hopes that the services at the Undip library can be utilized optimally by Undip students to increase the number of visits. “One of our newest services is the final assignment clinic service. Hopefully, it can be utilized optimally. “We don’t only serve book collections, but we also provide various training,” he concluded. (Dhany/Nadella – Public Relations)
