Cool! UNDIP Won 1st and 2nd Place in the 2023 National ATP Event

Diponegoro University succeeded in winning 1st place and 2nd place in the national ATP (Professor Tennis Association) event, which was held in 2 (two) locations, namely the tennis court at the Rusunawa Undip complex and the Jati Diri Semarang tennis court. The competition was held on October 6-8, 2023. ATP (Professor Tennis Association) is an organization of associations of professors who are passionate about field tennis, which was formed in 2021. In one year, the ATP holds tournaments 2 (two) times. In the 5th round this time, Diponegoro University was chosen to host the ATP tournament by having the 2023 Undip Rector’s Cup Tennis Championship with the theme “Synergy and Sportsmanship to Achieve Achievement.”

The tennis championship for the Undip Rector’s Cup was exciting and attracted the enthusiasm of the audience. The excitement of the crowd was felt on the field during the match. In the game, the players appeared skilled and agile even though the professors who played were considered old. The active movement of the players shows that tennis makes the body healthy, fit and enthusiastic.

Taking 1st place was the pair Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Heru Susanto and Prof. Dr. Jamari, S.T., M.T. from Diponegoro University. Following 2nd place from Diponegoro University was the pair of Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. and Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Widiasa, S.T., M.T. Meanwhile, the pair won the 3rd place were Prof. Dr. Yatim Riyanto, M.Pd. and Prof. Dr. Agus Hariyanto, M.Pd. from Universitas Negeri Surabaya; together with Prof. Dr. Ir. Soetriono, MP. and Prof. Dr. Bambang Wibisono, M.Pd. from Jember University. The 2023 Undip Rector’s Cup Tennis Championship was attended by 32 (thirty-two) pairs of professors from universities and polytechnics in Indonesia, namely from Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed), Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (Unissula), Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, Universitas Bentara Sukoharjo, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Universitas Jambi, Politeknik Ahli Usaha dan Perikanan, Universitas Jember, Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Siliwangi and Universitas Diponegoro.

In an interview with the Undip Public Relations team on Sunday (8/10) after the certificate and medal reception ceremony, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., who won 1st place, expressed happiness and gratitude that the tournament ran smoothly. “One of ATP’s goals in holding tournaments is to build relationships between professors to increase the climate of cooperation in both academic and non-academic fields. “It is hoped that improving the collaborative climate will also improve the quality of education at each university,” said Prof. Heru, who currently serves as Undip Vice Rector for Resources. Prof. Heru added, “The aim of holding the Undip Rector’s Cup tournament is to foster pioneering Tri Dharma of Higher Education collaboration between universities, to prepare a format for Community Service by Universities, as a forum for friendship and strengthening ties of brotherhood between professors, and to improve the health status of professors.” Prof. Heru succeeded in winning 1st place in a pair with Prof. Jamari, who is currently the Chair of LPPM (Institute for Research and Community Service) Undip.

While occupying the second place, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., managed to win 2nd place paired with Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Widiasa, S.T., M.T., who currently serves as Director of the Science and Techno Park Directorate. Prof. Suharnomo expressed his appreciation for the participation of the professors in the Undip Rector’s Cup Tennis Championship. In line with this theme, Prof. Suharnomo hopes that this event will further strengthen synergy and increase sportsmanship to encourage each university to achieve both academic and non-academic achievements.
