Semarang – The 2023 Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) awardees from Diponegoro University (Undip) successfully introduced Indonesian culture to the international arena at Palacký University Olomouc, Czech (19/10) in a National Presentation activity initiated by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN).
In this activity, the 2023 IISMA awardees from Undip acted as Indonesian cultural ambassadors. They explained the rich culture of their homeland, starting from traditional Indonesian clothing (batik), traditional food, and language. One of the awardees also taught Indonesian to the students present, such as “How are you?” and “Thank you.” Not only that, the 2023 IISMA awardees from Undip also presented Balinese dance. Fathia Khaerani (Psychology Study Program, Faculty of Psychology) as she is familiarly called Cia, displays impressive dance movements, equipped with typical Balinese attributes and accessories.
Fathia Khaerani, one of the 2023 IISMA Undip awardees, hopes that through the performance presented to students at Palacký University Olomouc, they can introduce Indonesia’s diverse culture to the world stage. “We hope that, through the performances we have presented, we can introduce Indonesian culture on a bigger stage, namely the international stage.”
Head of the Undip International Affairs Office (KUI), Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D., expressed her appreciation to the awardees who had participated in making the event a success. “Through this activity, the 2023 IISMA Undip students succeeded in proving that the beauty and diversity of Indonesian culture can penetrate geographical boundaries. “The awardees are not only proud representatives of Indonesia but also act as cultural bridges between Indonesia and international students on a larger scale,” she said.
