The Diponegoro University (Undip) Independent Energy Village Team succeeded in obtaining national funding from the Pertamina Foundation for their innovative project to support the net-zero emission (NZE) target and the development of new and renewable energy. As part of the Sobat Bumi Pertamina Independent Energy Village program, UNDIP launched 24 embryos of Independent Energy Villages (Desa Energi Berdikari/DEB) as a concrete step in realizing energy sustainability.
On Monday, November 20, 2023, the Pertamina Foundation announced that the DEB UNDIP Team was successfully included in the top 5 best nationally funded proposals throughout Indonesia. The team led by Naila Aulia from the Faculty of Economics and Business, together with vice leader Farhan Gimnastiar Maslihan from the Vocational School, as well as 23 members from various faculties at Undip, achieved extraordinary achievements with a proposal entitled “Transformation of the Sitaring Tourism Village towards Net-Zero Emission through a Pilot Project Solar Power Plants and Waste Bank Processing Innovations.”
Kemambang Village, located in Semarang Regency, was chosen as the location for the pilot project to implement this brilliant idea. The project involves the construction of a solar power plant and innovative waste bank processing as concrete steps to achieve net-zero emissions.
Naila Aulia, team leader, stated, “We are very grateful for the support and trust given by the Pertamina Foundation. The transformation of the Sitaring Tourism Village into an Independent Energy Village is our big step in supporting positive change towards a more sustainable environment.”
With funding assistance from Pertamina, the DEB UNDIP Team hopes to make a real contribution to accelerating the achievement of the net zero emission target and advancing the use of new and renewable energy in Indonesia. This success also shows students’ potential and commitment to creating innovative solutions to global challenges.
