Semarang, February 23, 2026 – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) held the 2025 Publication Achievement Evaluation and 2026 Acceleration Plan on Monday (23/2) at the Progo Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Hotel ARRUS Semarang. The event served as a strategic forum to reflect on the achievements of internationally reputable publications in 2025 while formulating acceleration steps toward the 2026 targets.
The event was attended by the Rector, Vice Rectors III and IV, Deans of Faculties and Schools, and representatives from the Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM). The forum reaffirmed UNDIP’s commitment to strengthening its global academic reputation.
In his remarks, the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, SE, MSi, expressed appreciation for the increase in UNDIP’s publications in Scopus-indexed journals and proceedings throughout 2025. The achievements in 2025 set a new record for publications at UNDIP. However, he emphasized that future challenges will become increasingly competitive, particularly in the context of international rankings such as QS and THE Impact Rankings.
“To become a Top 3 national university and strengthen our global position, we cannot ignore international ranking indicators. A culture of publication must become a collective movement, institutionalized from the faculty level to the university level,” the Rector emphasized.
He also highlighted the importance of strengthening UNDIP’s internal journals so that more of them can be indexed in Scopus, while encouraging higher-quality cross-faculty and international research collaborations.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector IV, Dr. Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., presented a strategic policy to accelerate publications through the “1 Lecturer 1 Scopus Publication” scheme, with flexibility in authorship roles, either as first author or co-author. This policy is expected to boost productivity while expanding academic collaboration networks.
“Currently, UNDIP has achieved the highest number of publications in its history, reaching 2,349 papers in 2025. In accordance with the Strategic Plan mandate, in 2026, it is time for us to reach a new historical milestone: 3,000 publications. One strategy is to encourage a policy of one lecturer producing one Scopus-indexed publication per year with flexible authorship roles,” he added.
Vice Rector III added that the acceleration strategy will also be carried out through the establishment and strengthening of solid writing teams in each faculty, including optimizing the role of postgraduate students in international publication collaborations. Best practices from lecturers with strong publication track records will also be replicated to broaden impact.
Furthermore, the Head of LPPM, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Suherman, S.T., M.T., stated that the forum served as a platform for discussions between LPPM and faculties to jointly improve the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) of publications in Scopus-indexed journals and proceedings. The discussions were directed toward strengthening collaboration, designing research programs that produce Scopus-indexed publications, developing research collaborations with domestic and international universities, providing publication writing training and mentoring, and jointly seeking solutions to existing challenges.
During the presentation session, each faculty and school presented their 2025 publication achievements and 2026 targets. Several faculties have established publication obligation schemes with various strategies, including one lecturer producing one article as first author, one as co-author, or a combination of both. In addition, optimizing the use of Article Processing Charge (APC) funding was also highlighted as an important support for accelerating publications.
The discussion forum produced several follow-up actions, including:
- Strengthening the monitoring and evaluation system for publication achievements in each faculty
- Optimizing financial support for publications and journal development
- Strengthening publication institutions as part of the strategy toward a World-Class University
Through this event, UNDIP reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving the quality and quantity of internationally reputable publications as part of its transformation toward a world-class university. The publication acceleration in 2026 is expected to become a strategic momentum to strengthen academic reputation, enhance global competitiveness, and expand UNDIP’s contributions to advancing knowledge and sustainable development.
