Dean of UNDIP’s Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science Appointed Acting Chair of the Indonesian Forum of Fisheries and Marine Higher Education Institutions until October 2026

UNDIP, Jimbaran (22/5) – The Indonesian Forum of Fisheries and Marine Higher Education Institutions (FKPTPK) has officially appointed a new acting chairperson. Prof. Agus Trianto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), was elected as the Acting Chair of FKPTPK until October 2026, or until the next forum chairperson is elected.

The election took place during the Forum Meeting held at Udayana University in Bali from May 18–21, 2026. Prof. Agus Trianto succeeded Prof. Dr. Ir. Fredinan Yulianda, M.Sc., who had completed his previous term of office. Hundreds of forum members, comprising leaders of higher education institutions across Indonesia specializing in fisheries and marine sciences, attended this annual event.

In his first remarks after being elected, Prof. Agus Trianto expressed his respect and gratitude for the trust placed in him by all forum members. He emphasized that this responsibility is too great to be carried out alone and therefore requested support and cooperation from all forum members to strengthen synergy among Indonesian fisheries and marine higher education institutions to advance the national maritime sector.

During the gala dinner, which was also attended by the Governor of Bali, Dr. Ir. I Wayan Koster, M.M., and the Rector of Universitas Udayana, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., Prof. Agus Trianto conveyed his highest appreciation for the warm welcome and full support from the regional government and the Universitas Udayana leadership. He also expressed deep appreciation for Bali’s local wisdom, particularly the Balinese people’s culture and philosophy of life in preserving marine and coastal resources.

FKPTPK serves as a coordination forum among higher education institutions in Indonesia that organize study programs and research in fisheries, marine affairs, and marine sciences. The forum aims to harmonize policies, improve educational quality, and encourage collaborative research in sustainable marine resource management.

This new leadership is expected to strengthen academic and research collaboration among universities at both national and international levels, while also supporting national priorities in food security and the blue economy. (Public Communication/UNDIP/FPIK)
