UNDIP Inaugurates Diponegoro Edu Park and International-Standard Stadium Track, Open to the Public

UNDIP, Semarang (22/5) – A greener and fresher atmosphere has now become part of the Universitas Diponegoro area. Beyond serving as a place for learning, UNDIP continues to develop a campus that is welcoming to the public, healthy for activities, and comfortable as a green open space in the city of Semarang. Through the inauguration of the Diponegoro Edu Park and the running track at the Universitas Diponegoro Stadium, UNDIP aims to provide spaces that not only support academic activities but also allow the community to enjoy a lush, healthy, and educational campus environment.

Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) officially inaugurated the Diponegoro Edu Park and the running track of the Universitas Diponegoro Stadium on Friday, May 22, 2026. The inauguration reflects UNDIP’s commitment to providing campus facilities that support healthy lifestyles, green spaces, and the development of academic and student activities.

UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., stated that the development of various campus facilities is part of the university’s efforts to establish itself as a world-class university supported by quality facilities and a comfortable campus environment. “Alhamdulillah, in every corner, we continue striving to strengthen our position as the world’s 23rd-ranked GreenMetric university and 2nd in Indonesia. This achievement is UNDIP’s way of supporting student and academic community activities so they can become healthier and greener,” he said.

Diponegoro Edu Park is designed not only as a green open space but also as an educational area integrated with various learning resources within UNDIP. Prof. Suharnomo explained that the area will eventually connect with educational facilities on campus.

“Diponegoro Edu Park will later be integrated with learning facilities at the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences. We have melon gardens, poultry farms, and many others. So, the Edu Park will also contain educational elements,” Prof. Suharnomo stated.

As part of the campus green area development, the event also featured a symbolic tree-planting ceremony at the Diponegoro Edu Park. The tree planting reflects UNDIP’s commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable campus environment.

In addition to inaugurating Diponegoro Edu Park, UNDIP also unveiled the Universitas Diponegoro Stadium running track, built to international quality standards. The facility was developed to support student athletic achievements while promoting a healthy lifestyle on campus.

“We dedicate this to the best students of Universitas Diponegoro so they can achieve even greater accomplishments, and also to promote healthy lifestyles, especially among our students, education staff, and lecturers,” Prof. Suharnomo remarked.

The Rector also emphasized that UNDIP continues to improve both physical and academic facilities across all faculties to support educational quality and enhance students’ learning experiences. Through the inauguration of Diponegoro Edu Park and the stadium running track, UNDIP hopes these facilities will become new landmarks in the Tembalang area and shared spaces that benefit both the academic community and the wider public.
