Doctoral Program in Social Sciences and Master of Communication Sciences Program of FISIP UNDIP Proposed FIBAA International Accreditation

Diponegoro University (Undip) held an Accreditation Visitation from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) on October 17-19, 2023 at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). The event was attended by the Undip Rector, Vice Rectors, Dean of Social and Political Sciences and his staff, all Undip leaders, and the FIBAA Assessment Team.

This activity further strengthens Undip as one of the internationally recognized universities by targeting international accreditation for several study programs in Faculties and Schools. The study programs proposed for FIBAA international accreditation this time come from FISIP, namely the Doctoral Program in Social Sciences and Masters in Communication Sciences.

Starting his speech, Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. revealed that international accreditation activities are an urgent matter for Undip because international recognition is also needed to improve quality in academic and non-academic fields. Currently, the number of study programs at Undip is 170 study programs, of which 107 study programs are accredited A, and there are 24 study programs internationally accredited by FIBAA, ASIIN, and others.

“We have established many international collaborations with several parties, such as universities, NGOs, industry and the business world abroad. This aims to improve students’ academic and non-academic quality, including practical experience,” said Prof. Yos.

Undip has carried out several international activities such as Summer Courses, Seminars, International Academic Publications, International Undergraduate Programs, Student Exchanges, and scholarships for international students, especially from developing countries. “Currently, there are 488 international students from various countries registered at Undip, and our student activities have also succeeded in bringing many international achievements, both in sports tournaments, robotics tournaments, and other international achievements,” he said.

Apart from that, as a form of Undip’s commitment to realizing Undip’s vision of becoming an Excellent Research University, Undip is currently in the process of developing several laboratories, such as the Marine Science Techno Park (MTSP) in Teluk Awur Jepara. Several laboratories have also been nationally accredited. “On the other hand, as our commitment to disability programs and caring for the environment, the buildings and services at Undip are designed for those who need them,” explained Prof. Yos.

“We convey our gratitude and deepest appreciation to the entire FIBAA Assessment team for giving us the opportunity to apply for study program accreditation. We hope that the results of FIBAA International Accreditation can strengthen partnerships, not only between FIBAA and Undip but also between Indonesia and European countries. We also hope that this FIBAA accreditation can increase Undip’s quality score at the international level,” said Prof. Yos.
