Sriwedari Mengajar! UNDIP Community Service Students Provide Basic Financial Management and Accounting Training

Sriwedari, Surakarta (30/07/2024) – As part of efforts to support the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Alvito Naufal A.N, a student from the Management Study Program at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) participating in the community service program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata / KKN), organized an activity called Sriwedari Mengajar (Sriwedari Teaching). This program focuses on training in financial management and basic accounting with the aim of improving the understanding of MSME operators in the Sriwedari Subdistrict regarding effective financial management and proper accounting fundamentals.

This initiative was a response to the problems often faced by MSME operators in Surakarta, particularly in the Sriwedari Subdistrict, namely the need for more knowledge and understanding of business financial management. Many MSMEs need adequate financial recording systems, making it difficult for them to monitor cash flow, determine profits, and make strategic decisions for business growth. The situation often leads to financial instability, which can hinder business growth and result in economic losses.

The training was held in person on July 30, 2024, using an innovative approach where Alvito and his team visited the business locations of the MSME operators directly. Through this on-site engagement, participants were able to immediately apply the materials taught in their own business environments, allowing theory and practice to work hand in hand.

Alvito hopes this initiative will help MSME operators feel more confident in managing their business finances, accurately recording transactions, and ultimately improving the economic well-being of the Sriwedari Subdistrict. “We want to make a real contribution to the community by equipping MSME operators with the essential knowledge needed for the growth of their businesses,” said Alvito.

Kunara, the Head of the local business association and one of the MSME actors, expressed that the material provided was highly relevant and suited to the needs of the MSME actors, especially those still struggling to separate business and personal finances. This activity is expected to catalyze MSME growth in Sriwedari Subdistrict while also inspiring other students to contribute to local economic advancement through education and training.

At the end of the session, Alvito distributed stickers with QR codes containing the material presented. This way, MSME actors can quickly revisit the e-booklet on their phones at any time. (Alvito)
