UNDIP and Amal Sehat Hospital in the Sragen Regency Launch Wanadipa Greenhouse to Support Agricultural Innovation and Sustainability

The Rector of Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., officially inaugurated the Wanadipa Greenhouse in the Special Purpose Forest Area (Kawasan Hutan Dengan Tujuan Khusus / KHDTK) of UNDIP. The event took place on Thursday (5/9/2024). It was attended by the Rector of Diponegoro University, the Chairperson of the Academic Senate, the Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, the leadership of Amal Sehat Hospital, the Chairperson and Members of the UNDIP’s Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), the Chairperson and Members of the DWP of the Ministry of Environment, the Head of KHDTK Wanadipa UNDIP, Vice Rectors, and the Deans.

The event began with the signing of a plaque by the Rector of Diponegoro University and the leadership of Amal Sehat Hospital in Sragen Regency. The Wanadipa Greenhouse, a CSR program from Amal Sehat Hospital, is part of UNDIP and the hospital’s commitment to improving the quality of scientific research and agricultural technology development, as well as supporting environmental sustainability. The greenhouse will serve as a research center for various plant varieties and modern farming technology.

In his speech, H. Untung Wiyono, the head of Amal Sehat Sragen Islamic Hospital, expressed his gratitude for the cooperation established with UNDIP and hoped that the construction of this greenhouse would ensure sustainability. “We are very happy and grateful to UNDIP for the collaboration that has been established. Hopefully, in the future, we can continue working together and expand this cooperation even further,” said H. Untung Wiyono.

“Indonesia is an extraordinary nation, and as humans, we have a great responsibility to protect it. Our concern for nature is not only for ourselves today but also for future generations. Let us work together to preserve the beauty and richness of Indonesia’s nature with sustainable actions,” said UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., during his speech.

The event continued with a symbolic tree-planting activity. The Chairperson of the UNDIP’s Dharma Wanita Association (DWP), along with the Chairperson and Advisor of the DWP of the Ministry of Environment, planted trees in the area around KHDTK as a symbol of their shared commitment to environmental preservation and sustainability.

“Our purpose in coming to Semarang, Jawa Tengah, is to provide guidance aimed at enhancing human resources within the Dharma Wanita Association of the UPT KLHK Jawa Tengah Regional Office. Additionally, we have a work program in the socio-cultural field, one of which is this tree-planting activity. Planting trees is very important to combat the negative effects of climate change and increase the amount of oxygen on Earth, thereby minimizing the impact of global warming,” explained Lilia Alue Dohong, Advisor to the DWP of the Ministry of Environment.
