UNDIP, Semarang (June 2, 2025) – The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) proudly hosted the 6th International Conference on Psychological Studies (ICPSYCHE) via Zoom meeting on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. This global academic event carried the central theme, “Digital Pathways to Happiness: Exploring the Future of Individual and Family Mental Health in a Tech-Driven Society.”
The conference featured a keynote address from Prof. Elizabeth Drame, Ph.D., of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, United States. Her inspiring speech, titled “Creating Inclusive and Supportive Campus Communities in a Tech-Driven World,” focused on how universities can cultivate a sense of belonging among students, faculty, and staff while adapting to the demands of modern technology.
The program continued with four featured speakers presenting diverse yet interrelated topics. The first was Jati Ariati, S.Psi., M.Psi., Ph.D., from UNDIP’s Faculty of Psychology, who discussed “Digital Social Multitasking: Motives, Needs, and Quality of Relationship.” Her presentation explored how people—particularly younger generations—engage with multiple digital platforms simultaneously, the motivations behind this behavior, and its implications for the quality of social relationships.

Next, Prof. Dr. Abd Rahman Ahmad from Johor Business School (JBS), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, spoke on “Harnessing Technology for Happiness: Strategies to Enhance Individual and Family Well-Being.” He outlined practical ways to leverage technology to improve mental wellness, including effective digital-based interventions.
Dr. Pablo Arias-Sarah from the School of Psychology & Neuroscience, University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, presented his research titled “Studying Human Social Interactions with Hyperrealistic Face Transformation Filters.” His talk introduced innovative methods that utilize hyperrealistic facial filters to understand the dynamics of social interaction in the age of social media.
The fourth speaker, Prof. Venusia Covelli from E-CAMPUS in Como, Lombardy, Italy, addressed “Psychosocial Well-Being and Instagram Addiction among Young Adults: An Examination of Social Identity Processes and Meaningful Relationships as Protective Factors.” Prof. Covelli analyzed how Instagram addiction affects young adults’ psychosocial well-being and emphasized the importance of social identity and meaningful relationships as protective buffers.
Following the plenary session, the conference continued with a Call for Papers presentation, offering a platform for academics and emerging researchers to present their latest findings. This session allowed participants to network, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful academic dialogue.
