Excitement at UNDIP’s 2025 New Students Orientation as Rector Leads New Students in Unity by Singing a Song

UNDIP, Semarang (August 14, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro held the New Student Admission Ceremony (PMB) for the 2025/2026 academic year at Muladi Dome, UNDIP’s multipurpose hall in Tembalang. The three-day event, running from August 13 to 15, 2025, officially welcomed 16,380 new students into the UNDIP community.

On the opening day, Jawa Tengah Governor, Komjen Pol (Purn) Drs. Ahmad Luthfi, S.H., S.St.M.K., greeted thousands of new students. He engaged directly with them while delivering an inspiring message that stressed the importance of not only academic excellence but also becoming agents of change with integrity, character, and readiness to face global challenges.

Echoing the governor’s remarks, UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., urged students to become a “Complete Generation”—intelligent, resilient, creative, caring, and noble. “You are not a fragile strawberry generation, but a Temcy (re: Tembalang City) generation: smart, tough, open-minded, and guided by values. Honor your parents’ trust, study seriously, graduate on time, and contribute meaningfully to society. This spirit is not about red flags or green flags, but about a commitment to becoming a quality, noble, and valuable generation,” he said.

Prof. Suharnomo emphasized that UNDIP students are heirs to the values of national hero Prince Diponegoro—honesty, justice, compassion, and courage. He encouraged them to excel academically while also joining organizations to hone skills and leadership, shaping themselves into graduates with an impactful character.

In his address, Academic Senate Chair Prof. Ir. Edy Rianto, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, expressed pride in the new students for joining one of Indonesia’s top universities. “Welcome to a campus whose graduates secure jobs the fastest in Indonesia. Make this period of study a golden opportunity to gain knowledge, sharpen skills, and achieve excellence. Graduate on time with the best results to bring pride to your alma mater and family,” he said.

Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Ir. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., reported the new students accepted, including: 216 doctoral, 945 master’s, 182 specialist, 223 professional, 12,709 undergraduate, and 2,105 applied bachelor/vocational students. They were admitted through various pathways, including SNBP, SNBT, Vocational Excellence Track, Independent Exam, Achievers Selection, International Undergraduate Program, as well as graduate, professional, specialist, and international admissions.

This year’s ceremony offered more than messages to begin the academic journey. The new students also joined the rector in lively sing-alongs. On the first day, Prof. Suharnomo led them in a jamming session singing “Kita Usahakan Lagi,” followed on the second day by a song titled “Mangu.” The moments of singing together boosted the energy and pride of becoming UNDIP students.

After the admission ceremony, new students will continue with Campus Life Introduction (PKKMB) on August 19, 2025; Character Education (Pendikar) on August 20–22, 2025; and Diponegoro Muda Orientation (ODM) on August 23, 2025. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ Ut)
